Job Title: Vice President, Machine Learning Engineer

Location: 400 Howard St San Francisco, CA 94105

Job Duties: Analyze, manipulate, or process large sets of data using statistical software, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning. Develop AI-based solutions to solve a diverse set of business use cases using State-of-the-Art (SOTA) neural networks. Apply different areas of AI/ML such as Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement Learning, Computer Vision, etc. to solve different business challenges. Create scalable, reusable, and modular software and solutions using end-to-end Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) techniques. Apply feature selection algorithms to models to predict future outcomes of interest such as stock returns, or explain past outcomes of interest such as portfolio performance attribution. Clean and manipulate raw data using Data Science (DS) techniques and software. Compare models using statistical performance metrics, such as loss functions or proportion of explained variance. Create graphs, charts, or other visualizations to convey the results of data analysis using specialized software. Collaborate with all partners in the strategic design process and translate business needs into AI solution architecture design working closely with architecture and platform engineering teams. Contribute to ML research and Proof-of-Concepts working closely with data scientists. Evaluate and participate in key build or buy decision for the Aladdin AI Platform. Deliver oral or written presentations of the results of mathematical modeling and data analysis to management or other end users. Design surveys, opinion polls, or other instruments to collect data. Identify business problems or management objectives that can be addressed through artificial intelligence and machine learning. Identify relationships and trends or any factors that could affect the results of research. Identify solutions to business problems using the results of data analysis. Propose solutions in engineering, the sciences, and other fields using mathematical theories and techniques. Read scientific articles, conference papers, or other sources of research to identify emerging analytic trends and technologies. Recommend AI/ML and data-driven solutions to key stakeholders. Test, validate, and reformulate models to ensure accurate prediction of outcomes of interest. Write new functions or applications in programming languages to conduct analyses. Employer will accept graduate research experience in lieu of professional work experience.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Engineering (any field), Computer Science or a related field and Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or as a Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer or a related field. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any field), Computer Science or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or as a Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer or a related field. Must have three (3) years of experience with the following: Building machine learning pipelines in academia or industry; Python; PyTorch or PT Lightning; Scikit-Kearn; Scipy; AI; NLP; Generative AI; Docker; Kubernetes; FastAPI; MLOps; Cloud Computing (Azure); and Git. Two (2) years of experience with: LLM; SLM; MLFlow or W&B; SQL; and Spark. One (1) year of experience with: TensorFlow; Responsible AI; LangChain and LangGraph; Vector DBs; and Airflow.

For San Francisco, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$229,500.00 - USD$275,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
