Introduction to Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions
The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of BlackRock’s index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and cutting-edge alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels. Currently, MASS manages over $1 trillion in assets and has a strong presence in the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific region.

Position Overview
BlackRock is seeking a portfolio manager to join the MASS Portfolio Management (MASS PM) team in New York City, where they will be part of a global team responsible for a wide array of portfolio management activities. The portfolio manager will be managing a diverse range of pooled funds, client mandates and model portfolios. Responsibilities will cover portfolio design, construction, and implementation; contributing to investment research and commercial efforts; and driving technology and process enhancements across the PM platform to deliver investment performance, consistency and scale. PMs are expected to contribute to and influence investment decision making, and exercise critical judgement across asset and sector allocation, instrument selection, implementation methods, and trading decisions.
Candidates should possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with a wide range of partner teams and stakeholders. The successful candidate will possess outstanding attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and have a passion for thinking critically about financial markets both across and within asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently manage client portfolios comprised of physical and synthetic equity, fixed income, FX, ETFs, funds, private markets and commodity exposures
Perform portfolio management tasks including implementing multiple investment strategies, handling client flows, rebalancing, and monitoring positioning, performance and risk
Ensure all mandates conform to performance expectations, investment guidelines, risk parameters, and regulatory requirements
Work with internal partners to design and launch new portfolios and implement changes to existing portfolios
Develop and implement best practice portfolio management processes that create scale and minimize operational risk
Interface with operations, risk, data and other platform teams to drive process improvements and contribute to overall systems, investment and trading process enhancements
Participate in research related to portfolio construction, asset allocation, security selection, and other investment topics relevant to multi-asset investing
Experience / Key Qualifications
Degree in a quantitative field (Physics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or similar), and Postgraduate degree, CFA, and/or similar professional qualification preferred
2+ years of experience in portfolio management or related role desired, with accompanying knowledge in relevant subject areas such as markets, instruments, portfolio construction, exposure and risk measures, or attribution
Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to remain focused across a wide range of portfolio types and activities
Strong working knowledge of a range of instruments and markets such as ETFs, pooled funds, derivatives, FX, rates, equities or credit markets
Knowledge of portfolio management theory, asset and market pricing models; Understanding of macro- and micro-economic concepts
Flexible, responsive and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment
Strong process awareness and sense of accountability and ownership in recognizing and addressing risks in the business
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to deliver presentations internally/externally and coordinate across a variety of functions around the firm
Familiarity with Aladdin portfolio management tools (A4, PfC, PfM, PI, ATS, ATC, etc.) is highly valued
Technical skills such as Python, Tableau, Power BI and SQL
