About this role

BlackRock is seeking a portfolio manager to join the MASS Portfolio Management team as an Associate in Hong Kong. The successful candidate will join a team operating across Singapore and Hong Kong and handle a variety of portfolio management tasks, with a key focus on model management. Key responsibilities include assisting with the full cycle of model portfolios and custom model solutions, developing hierarchy and infrastructure to support new model launches, enhancing technology and processes across the PM platform to drive performance and scalability, and supporting alpha-focused portfolio construction and implementation processes. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with other teams to contribute to investment research and commercial efforts. Our Portfolio Managers are expected to influence investment decision making and exercise critical judgement in asset and sector allocation, instrument selection, implementation methods, and trading decisions.

Candidates should possess strong analytical and coding skills, as well as proven ability to work in collaboration with different partner teams. The role will have considerable scope for the right individual to have an impact on both the success our team, as well as the broader MASS business.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a fiduciary by taking responsibility for accurately handling our client’s money in an error-free manner.
  • Assist in managing a diverse range of multi-asset client mandates and funds, with a key focus on model portfolios and custom model solutions, comprising equities, fixed income, ETFs, funds, private markets and commodity exposures.
  • Apply technology, automation and analytical tools to build out model hierarchy and infrastructure to create scale.
  • Perform daily portfolio management tasks, including handling cash flow allocations, rebalancing, and monitoring of positions, performance and risk.
  • Work on projects to improve portfolio and risk management processes and maximize opportunities to do collaborative work with our colleagues across APAC and globally.
  • Participate in, and at times host, market and investment related meetings to share views with peers.
  • Collaborate with operations, risk, data and other platform teams to drive operational improvements and participate in overall systems, investment and trading process improvements.
  • Evaluate performance attribution and communicate market/portfolio performance.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Tertiary qualified in a scientific degree such as Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management theory, asset and market pricing models; Understanding of macro- and micro-economic concepts is desirable.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to remain focused on different portfolio types and activities.
  • Great teammate, with a flexible, adaptable and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capacity to work in a challenging environment, often to time specific deadlines.
  • Coding experience with Python and SQL required. Experience with other programming languages is a plus.
