About this role

When BlackRock was started in 1988, its founders envisioned a company that combined the best of financial services with powerful technology. The result of their vision is Aladdin, our industry leading, end-to-end investment management platform.

Aladdin Studio ("Studio") is an integrated platform to discover data, build financial applications, and connect Aladdin to other applications. Studio enables and empowers development for the entire Aladdin community - from citizen developers to full-time engineers. It includes Aladdin’s API surface, cloud investment data platform – the Aladdin Data Cloud, and hosted developer environment – Aladdin Compute.

Team Overview:

Data is at the core of the Aladdin platform, and increasingly, our ability to consume, store, analyze, and gain insight from data is a key component of what differentiates us. As part of Aladdin Studio, The Aladdin Data Cloud (ADC) Engineering team is responsible for building and maintaining data-as-a-service solution for all the data management and transformation needs. We engineer high performance data pipelines, provide a fabric to discover and consume data, and continually evolve our data surface capabilities.

As a Data engineer in the ADC Engineering team, you will: - 

  • Work alongside our engineers to help design and build scalable data pipelines while evolving the data surface.

  • Help prove out anddeliverCloud Native Infrastructure and tooling to support scalable data cloud.

  • Have fun as part of anamazing team.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Leading and working as part of a multi-disciplinary squad to establish our next generation of data pipelines and tools.

  • Be involved from inception of projects, understanding requirements, designing & developing solutions, and incorporating them into the designs of our platforms.

  • Mentor team members on technology and standard processes.

  • Maintain excellent knowledge of the technical landscapefor data & cloud tooling

  • Assist in solving issues, support the operation of production software.

  • Design solutions and document it.

Desirable Skills

  • 8+ years of industry experience in data engineering area.

  • Passion for engineering and optimizingdata sets, data pipelines and architecture.

  • Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, lineage,and metadata.

  • Knowledge of SQL and performance tuning.Experience with Snowflake is preferred.

  • Good understandingof languages such as Python/Java

  • Understandingof software deployment and orchestration technologies such as airflowetc.

  • Experience with dbt is helpful.

  • Working knowledge of building and deploying distributed systems

  • Experience in creating and evolving CI/CD pipelines with GitLab or Azure Dev Ops.

  • Experience in handling multi-disciplinary team and mentoring them.

Our hybrid work model
