About this role

The Web Tech Solutions team is responsible for providing a proven software technology platform serving more than 100 public-facing websites of our company under the blackrock.com and ishares.com domains. These websites serve around 4 million individual visits per month, providing comprehensive data about our investment funds on more than 180 000 so-called product pages, enable roughly thousands of updates of web content and roughly 10 000 document uploads daily, as well as provide authentication for close to a million registered users globally.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be:

  • Designing, developing and maintaining Node services and modules powering a large public-facing website ecosystem.

  • Taking responsibility for the robust, high-performance React SSR framework behind the next generation of BlackRock’s websites.

  • Leading the migration effort to our next generation platform through the design, development and verification of cross-cutting framework functionality used by multiple partner dev teams.

  • Solving and preventing production issues and vulnerabilities, analyzing performance bottlenecks and continuously setting standards and improving critical stability, performance and maintainability important metrics.

  • Working closely with the Core Web Platform dev lead and architect on system planning, architecture reviews and defining standard methodologies and ‘rules of the road’ (linting, QA automation, code quality standards)

What You'll Need:

  • Minimum 7 years of deep experience with Node and React as a full stack software engineer, preferably using TypeScript. Familiarity with at least the basics of the React rendering pipeline is a must have.

  • Deep understanding of git, experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g. Azure DevOps), ability to write your own pipelines.

  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes, solid grasp of basic workload concepts, ability to composing, deploy and handle your own services.

  • A consistent record of delivering on time, aligning with strict quality standards and requirements.

  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with applying website security solutions (e.g. OWASP Top Ten, CSP, CORS).

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to describe complex engineering concepts to both junior developers and laypeople.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive, OSS-inspired approach to engineering problems (“you found it, you fix it” attitude).

  • Being a team player, ability to cooperate with multi-functional and cross-regional teams across the globe.

  • At least some experience with coaching and training juniors, ability to provide constructive feedback.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with modern bundlers like Vite.

  • Experience with Azure services, especially AKS.

  • At least basic understanding of SEO and page ranking concepts.

  • Experience with modern hybrid-headless CMS systems, especially Adobe AEM. Universal Editor experience is a plus.
