About this role
Are you interested in how the global energy system and the physical environment have impact on asset management practices? Do you enjoy understanding modelling mechanics in detail yet still want to be close to the action with clients and portfolio managers? Then consider this opportunity to work for the Energy & Climate Applied Analytics (ECAA) team in BlackRock’s Aladdin organization. In this role you are at the heart of how analytics related to the energy system, climate and sustainability are applied across the investment process.
The ECAA team builds the linkage between Aladdin’s core modelers and BlackRock’s clients and portfolio managers. Our purpose is to understand use cases and client demands, develop quantitative solutions together with modelling teams, ensure delivery of quality analytics to our clients, frame narratives in collaboration with client teams and portfolio managers and feedback our findings into the modelling roadmap. You will be part of the growing local presence in Budapest, with immediate stakeholders spread across Europe, the US and India. Key Responsibilities
Build new applied analytics solutions:
Work with modelling, product, and engineering teams to support integration of financial models and outputs to Aladdin platform, including the development and deployment of production pipelines:
Develop and implement top down or proxy approaches for various asset classes (e.g. private markets) to expand coverage or handle limited input data;
Design, develop and deploy analytical tools and approaches to help translate asset level modelling outputs into robust and decision-useful insight to support our clients in embedding climate and sustainability in investment processes;
Ensure best in class robustness and reliability of analytics output through definition and build of processes to test and refine model outputs as part of research and development.
Ongoing quality control of analytics model outputs through use, operationalisational and enhancement of testing framework.
Frame investment narratives:
Engage with portfolio managers across multi-assets, equities and fixed income as well as BLKs portfolio consulting teams to understand client demands and priorities for climate analytics;
Support building narratives around climate analytics catered to specific use cases (such as e.g. the decarbonization of a multi-asset portfolio, portfolio exposure to tariff implementation and changing trade flows). Roadmap management:
Collaborate with programme management to ensure client feedback and portfolio manager requirements are appropriately reflected in the modelling roadmap.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize information, summarize issues and think creatively;
Familiarity with modeling techniques used for valuation and quantification of risk associated with financial instruments like Equity, Fixed Income, or derivative asset classes. Familiarity with climate risk will be a plus;
Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical personnel:
Demonstrate intermediate or advanced skills in Python (SQL is a plus);
Detail-oriented, organized, and committed while working on multiple projects; • Motivated team player, flexible in approach and ability to work independently and effectively across time zones;
Proactive and responsive with keen attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership;
College degree, 3-5 years’ experience working in financial institutions. New graduates and those with fewer than 3 years experience but a relevant post-graduate degree will also be considered
