Technology & Operations is the backbone for both the client lifecycle and the investment lifecycle. The group’s Follow the Sun Model ensures that the firm’s operations are consistent and efficient across all investment products, client channels and regions, helping to deliver a superior client experience and drive scalability. Technology & Operations is driven by a global network of Operating Centers of Excellence, which centralizes knowledge and equips support teams with the data and timely information needed to innovate and deliver on behalf of internal partners and clients.
About Critical Site Operations (CSO)
The CSO Team is responsible for Critical Engineering services and Data Centers operations. Our data centers house mission critical systems that support Blackrock’s businesses. These facilities operate 24/7 and risks must be managed to allow for continual operational up-time.
The CSO Engineer will be based in Singapore and reporting to the Regional Manager of Critical Site Operations. Responsibilities include the engineering design and operations at all offices and data center within your region. The successful candidate will be accountable for ensuring the overall operational performance readiness, reliability, and integrity of the mission-critical infrastructure systems, which includes the following:
Air Handling Units (AHU’s), UPS’s, PDU’s, Generators, Fuel Pumps and Fuel Storage, Switchgear, Utility Feeds, Transfer Switches, Pumps, Water Piping, Fire Detection, Fire Suppression, Access Control, Monitoring, SCADA, Building Management System (BMS) Operations, and Leak Detection systems. The candidate must be familiar with the requirements of working in a 24x7 mission critical/data center environment. The successful candidate should also have familiarity with network topology and understanding of communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet IP, & SNMP.
The successful candidate must understand how these systems function and be capable of performing corrective measures. This includes resetting alarms, operating breakers and switches, operating transfer switches, starting back-up power systems, etc. He or she will also be responsible for the supervision of Building Engineers where applicable and manage all critical service providers that support the facilities Infrastructure systems.
The candidate will work with the Regional Manager to support data center operations in the region. This includes due diligence, work order management, smart hands management, and auditing. The ability to install and patch servers in Data centers is also required.
Responsibilities
Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of Mission Critical Infrastructure Systems including the ability to recognize system issues and respond to operational and emergency situations.
Operation and Maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS) systems utilized by BlackRock.
Ensure adherence to all BlackRock standard operating procedures, method of procedures, and emergency response procedures established for the mission critical environments and systems.
Implementation of the standards and procedures set forth in the BlackRock Data Center Procedures Manual and the Data Center Access Control Policies.
Work with facility managers and provide education on equipment operations, preventive maintenance, and alarm response requirements.
Conduct routine and ongoing assessment of the infrastructure systems operations.
Monitoring of all maintenance reports and analyze data to assure the proper functioning of all equipment.
Maintain availability for 24/7/365 emergency response to infrastructure failures and alarms.
Work closely with the Global Real Estate and Design & Construction teams to provide guidance/expertise on new office due diligence, site selection, design goals, operational characteristics, and infrastructure systems to ensure efficient, maintainable operations.
MEP as well as Datacenter Vendor management
Management of Collocation Data Center access and work order ticketing.
Install and patch equipment in Data Center as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Successful candidate should have a least a Diploma or a Degree in Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Data Center Operations or other equivalent related life experience preferred.
Candidates with either a Diploma or a Degree should have at least 3 years of experience in building engineering management, data center management, or related experience.
Strong knowledge of mission critical cooling systems, power systems, mechanical systems, and fire suppression systems.
Project management skills.
Electrical or HVAC licenses would be a plus.
Working familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Auto Cad and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software.
Candidate must be available for shift work, weekend work, and available for emergency problems on a 24/7/365 basis.
