BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) group provides investment strategies and solutions that employ sophisticated asset allocation, rigorous risk management, and extensive research to deliver specific outcomes tailored to client needs. Through our comprehensive portfolio approach, diversified return drivers, end-to end partnership and technology, our multi-asset platform is crafted to deliver outcomes with more precision. MASS includes specialized capabilities in areas of tactical asset allocation, income funds, target date and target risk strategies, as well as customized solutions through state-of-the-art portfolio construction and asset allocation methodologies.

MPS is a team within MASS that builds and runs a range of solutions for total return, income, and alpha objectives, where the solutions are implemented using BlackRock’s iShares ETFs and active mutual funds as building blocks. The team has a global footprint, principally in the London, San Francisco, and Hong Kong, and is comprised of about 30 investment professionals.

Role Description

BlackRock is seeking an experienced quantitative Researcher / Portfolio Manager to join the Global MPS business; this role will be based in Mexico City. The role will involve localization of our existing global strategies, designing new investment strategies, portfolio construction, and portfolio management. Success in this position will require strong analytical and quantitative skills, evidenced by an advanced degree and significant experience in investments or financial markets, with the ideal candidate having experience with multi-asset investing.

In addition, the candidate should be willing to collaborate effectively with a distributed team of researchers and portfolio managers, both within the MASS team and across the wider BlackRock community and should possess strong communication skills. The successful candidate will have a track record of delivering proven investment performance and presenting these results to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide model-management and quantitative research for Global MPS portfolios with a focus on the portfolios domiciled in Latin America.

  • Actively engage in Multi-Asset investment research with a deep focus on MPS quantitative research, encourage cross-team collaboration and serve as a role model for quantitative portfolio managers.

  • Implement MPS investment insights into client portfolios and models, using them to deliver investment performance that meets or exceeds client expectations.

  • Apply technology, automation, and analytical tools to build out models and scalable Global MPS investment process.

  • Perform model management tasks, including rebalancing, monitoring positions, performance and risk. Maintain overall portfolio compliance respecting portfolio guidelines

  • Produce investment insights for Latin America and participate in relevant regional and global research meetings.

  • Evaluate performance attribution and communicate market/portfolio performance.

  • Create and maintain visualization solutions using Tableau, Power BI and other visualization mediums

  • Collaborate on the development of new products and solutions for Latin America and global investors.

  • Build partnerships and strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree essential, and Postgraduate degree/CFA holder preferred.

  • Proven experience in portfolio management and/or investment research.

  • Good knowledge of quantitative finance theory and investment process.

  • Familiar with Latin American financial markets including equity, bond, and derivative markets. Good understanding of UCITS investment universe & regulations.

  • Knowledge of Aladdin, iShares and ETF portfolio management is a plus

  • Creativity and capability to move ideas to implementable investment insights.

  • Good communication and presentation skills in English and Spanish language

  • Technical expertise including good programming skills and experience, Python language preferred.

  • Must possess a strong work ethic and must be a great teammate with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, often to time specific deadlines.
