BlackRock has an opportunity on an Associate level within the Mexico Portfolio Management Group. The candidate will be part of the MASS Mexico Core PM Team focused on Equities. The Core PM Role is responsible for all non-alpha tasks within the investment process including equity order implementation, cash management, and compliance monitoring across the book. 

Additionally, team members are responsible for all operational and control processes, providing data solutions and research to portfolio managers, managing technology and data change initiatives, manufacturing reporting and supporting relationships with  Aladdin platform stakeholders on behalf of the Investment Team.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Act as a fiduciary by managing our mutual funds and client’s accounts according to their guidelines and goals in an error-free manner.
  • Partnering with Portfolio Managers and Traders on the desks to target efficient execution of investment strategies.
  • Safe and efficient onboarding of new client portfolios and management of current portfolios, comprising equity stocks, ETFs, mutual fund shares, etc.
  • Perform portfolio management tasks including handling cash flows, portfolio rebalancing, participation on corporate events, and monitoring of portfolio composition, performance, and risk.
  • Execute and improve our processes for portfolio and risk management in a scalable and risk-controlled manner.
  • Apply technology, automation, and analytical tools to enhance processes and create scale.
  • Work on projects to develop and maximize opportunities to do collaborative work with our colleagues globally.
  • Be a student of the market and develop views of the financial and economic environment to share with the broader investment team and peers.
  • Collaborating with Product Specialist on preparing materials related to performance attribution and market/portfolio performance.
  • Work with different teams such as Business Operations, Risk and Quantitative Analysis, Aladdin Engineering, and other platform teams to drive operational improvements and participate in overall systems, investment, and trading process enhancements.

Skills, experience, and education:

  • Market practitioner with 3+ years of experience in portfolio management, financial services or related industry.
  • Keen interest for financial markets and passion for excellence is required.
  • Familiarity with Aladdin portfolio management tools is highly valued.
  • Qualified in a scientific degree such as Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to remain focused on different portfolio types and activities.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, ideally gained from within a mathematics, econometrics, or statistics environment.
  • Proficient using Python, R, VBA, SQL, Tableau or other languages or tools.
  • Familiarity with market data tools like Bloomberg and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge or experience in a range of instruments and markets such as Equities, ETFs and other fund vehicles, derivatives, FX, rates, Fixed Income and Money market.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management theory, understanding of macro- and micro-economic concepts is desirable.
  • Ability to quickly build and maintain an intimate understanding of investment capabilities and solutions across multiple asset classes.
  • Capacity to work in a challenging environment, often to time specific deadlines with relative autonomy.
  • Ability to multi-task and collaborate within a team environment.
  • Excellent quantitative and empirical research skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Inquisitive and analytically minded with a logical and detailed work ethic
  • Very strong proficiency in English (oral and written communication)
