About this role
Associate, Database Platform Development
Role Summary
We are seeking an Associate Database Platform Developer to help design, build, and maintain databasecentric tooling and services that improve scalability, reliability, and developer productivity across the database estate. This role sits within the Database Platform Development function and focuses on software development, automation, and platform enablement rather than traditional daytoday database administration.
The role works closely with senior engineers, application teams, and infrastructure partners to modernize legacy tooling, automate operational workflows, and support database platform initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Platform and Tooling Development
Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal database tooling, services, and automation used for provisioning, access management, schema changes, and operational validation.
Develop and enhance scripts, services, and utilities using Python, Perl, Java, or similar languages under the guidance of senior engineers.
Support ongoing modernization efforts by assisting with migration of legacy scripts and workflows into more scalable, servicebased or APIdriven solutions.
Database Engineering Support
Assist application teams with databaserelated development needs, including schema design support, SQL review, and adherence to database development standards.
Help implement and maintain guardrails, validations, and checks that promote performance, reliability, and security across database platforms.
Learn and apply best practices across relational and cloud database technologies.
Automation and Reliability
Support automation efforts focused on reducing manual operational work and improving consistency across environments.
Participate in incident analysis and contribute code fixes or tooling enhancements that prevent recurrence.
Help improve observability and transparency of database platforms through logging, monitoring integration, and tooling enhancements.
Collaboration and Growth
Work collaboratively with global DBA, platform, and application engineering teams across time zones.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team knowledgesharing forums.
Build technical depth across database platforms, development practices, and enterprise tooling.
Required Qualifications
Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Perl, or Java.
Basic understanding of relational database concepts including tables, indexes, transactions, and SQL.
Familiarity with software development fundamentals including version control, code reviews, and testing.
Strong problemsolving skills and willingness to learn enterprise database platforms and tooling.
Ability to work effectively in a teambased, largescale technology environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to database platforms such as SQL Server, Snowflake, or similar enterprise databases.
Experience supporting or maintaining internal tools, scripts, or shared libraries.
Familiarity with APIs, automation frameworks, or CI/CD pipelines.
Interest in platform engineering, automation, and reducing operational toil through code.
