About this role
BlackRock's Fundamental Equities Taiwan team is seeking a seasoned Research Analyst with primary responsibility for conducting independent Taiwan-focused research. The role will be based in Taipei and will involve attending company meetings, trade shows, and industry conferences as required.
This position presents a compelling opportunity for an experienced investment professional with demonstrable expertise in fundamental research, financial analysis, and the assessment of corporate business models. The successful candidate will possess a strong appreciation for investing, with a focus on generating fundamentally driven investment returns. Working closely with other members of the team and the broader firm, this individual will conduct detailed fundamental research, make investment recommendations for inclusion of stocks across multiple strategies, and closely monitor those companies while they are held in portfolios.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to leverage BlackRock's highly regarded global investment platform, benefiting from its extensive research network, world-class technology, robust support infrastructure, and industry-leading risk management capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate investment opportunities in Taiwan, partnering closely with portfolio managers to assess investment theses, provide constructive challenge where appropriate, and ensure recommendations are supported by rigorous research and data analysis.
- Conduct independent company and industry research, monitoring macroeconomic trends, technological developments, regulatory changes, and geopolitical events that may impact investment outcomes.
- Attend industry conferences, earnings calls, and investor meetings to gather insights into company performance, management quality, and strategic direction, incorporating findings into investment recommendations.
- Prepare high-quality research reports, investment presentations, and client materials, including portfolio reviews, sustainability-related analyses, and strategy updates.
- Maintain a strong understanding of market developments, industry dynamics, and stock-specific news flow, assessing their implications for investment positions and portfolio performance.
- Contribute actively to team discussions, helping to build conviction around investment ideas and influence portfolio construction and strategy.
- Serve as a strong ambassador for the Taiwan Equities team, Fundamental Equities platform, and BlackRock, both internally and externally.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of equity research experience, ideally with coverage of the technology sector; buy-side experience is a plus.
- Strong academic credentials in Finance, Economics, or a related field. MBA, Master's degree, CFA, or other relevant professional qualifications are preferred.
- Proven expertise in fundamental research, financial modeling, valuation (DCF, comparables), and financial statement analysis.
- Deep understanding of business models, industry dynamics, competitive landscapes, and key drivers of shareholder returns.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg, Tableau, and other research and analytical tools; Python, VBA, SQL, or similar technical skills are advantageous.
- Strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and ability to maintain robust, well-supported investment analyses.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex investment ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Familiarity with GenAI tools and their application in enhancing research efficiency and investment insights.
- Independent, commercially minded investor with the ability to generate and defend high-conviction investment ideas.
- Collaborative team player with strong stakeholder management skills and a track record of contributing effectively within high-performing investment teams.
