About this role

BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and cutting-edge alpha insights. Our team of 300+ multi-asset investment professionals constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the MASS Portfolio Management team as an Associate / Vice President, based in Taiwan. The successful candidate will be part of a regionally integrated team operating across APAC and will be responsible for a broad range of portfolio management activities. The role involves managing a diverse range of pooled funds, client mandates, and model portfolios. Key responsibilities include portfolio design, construction, and implementation; contributing to investment research and commercial initiatives; and driving technology and process enhancements across the portfolio management platform to deliver investment performance, consistency, and scale. Portfolio Managers are expected to actively contribute to and influence investment decision-making, exercising sound judgment across asset and sector allocation, instrument selection, implementation approaches, and trading decisions.

Candidates should possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of partner teams and stakeholders. This role offers significant scope for the right individual to make a meaningful impact on both the success of the Portfolio Management team and the broader MASS business. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for thinking critically about financial markets across and within asset classes.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management

  • Execute portfolio management activities in a safe and efficient manner, including the implementation of multiple investment strategies, management of client flows, portfolio rebalancing, and ongoing monitoring of positioning, performance, and risk across ETF, fund, and FX exposures.
  • Develop and implement best practice portfolio management processes that create scale and minimize operational risk.
  • Interface with operations, risk, data and other platform teams to drive process improvements and contribute to overall systems, investment and trading process enhancements.
  • Participate in research related to portfolio construction, asset allocation, security selection, and other investment topics relevant to multi-asset investing.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with internal partners to design and launch new portfolios and implement changes to existing portfolios.
  • Prepare rebalancing commentary and assist in the preparation of regular/ad-hoc client reports.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Investment, Compliance, Legal, Product, Sales, Ops).
  • Communicate portfolio positioning and strategy clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Governance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all mandates conform to performance expectations, investment guidelines, risk parameters, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit and compliance reviews as required.

Process Optimization

  • Collaborate with tech and PM teams to automate workflows, enhance dashboards and scale reporting tools using Python.
  • Explore and apply AI and machine learning techniques, including prompt engineering, to advance scalable analytics and streamline processes.

Key Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field (Physics, Maths, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or similar), and Postgraduate degree, CFA, and/or similar professional qualification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in portfolio management or a closely related role, with demonstrated knowledge of financial markets, instruments, portfolio construction, exposures and risk measures, and performance attribution.
  • Eligibility to manage multiple Taiwan‑domiciled Fund of Funds preferred, including at least 2 years as a lead Portfolio Manager, or 1 year as a lead PM combined with 1 year as a mandate PM.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to remain focused across a wide range of portfolio types and activities.
  • Strong working knowledge of a range of instruments and markets such as ETFs, pooled funds, derivatives, FX, rates, equities or credit markets.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management theory, asset and market pricing models; Understanding of macro- and micro-economic concepts.
  • Flexible, responsive and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment.
  • Strong process awareness and sense of accountability and ownership in recognizing and addressing risks in the business.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to deliver presentations internally/externally and coordinate across a variety of functions around the firm.
  • Familiarity with Aladdin portfolio management tools is highly valued.
  • Technical skills such as Python, Matlab, Tableau and SQL are a plus.
