About this role

Investment and Portfolio Solutions is a global function that provides actionable market insights and portfolio consulting to help clients use BlackRock's full range of equity products and solutions to build better portfolios.

The team sits within the Global Product Solutions, responsible for innovating the next wave of products and solutions, and for sharpening focus on how existing products and solutions can help meet the needs of BlackRock’s clients.  This role is based in Australia, predominately focused on the growing wealth market and select opportunities within asset managers and institutional clients based in Australia and New Zealand.

The team is seeking an experienced investment strategy professional to:

  • Engage with local media and clients to deliver BlackRock’s broad investment views and portfolio insights in a polished and confident manner. The candidate should have high energy and is an accomplished presenter with extensive experience in public speaking
  • Work with BlackRock’s investment and client teams to create actionable market and portfolio insights tailored to investors in the local market 
  • Work with strategic clients to provide equity product insights and practical portfolio solutions
  • Drive the commercialization of existing and new equity products covering different investment styles (active/index) and investment objectives through client events and client meetings
  • Provide client and market insight to support the equity product development pipeline, marketing priorities and new strategic solutions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent BlackRock as the subject-matter expert at large client events and in media to articulate macro views and investment ideas.  To represent the firm, the investment strategist will need to have both investment expertise and be an avid student of the market, as well as very strong communication and presentation skills to engage credibly with different audiences
  • Oversee and create compelling investment strategy and portfolio analytics materials providing relevant and compelling solutions to meet client demand through market cycles
  • Work with partner teams to build and execute a business plan and strategy to commercialize investment insights and portfolio solutions
  • Drive iShares distribution initiatives through data analysis and client-ready insights covering factor and income trends, fundamental data, competitor positioning, and ETF industry developments.
  • Identify new solution opportunities from the changing client or investment landscape and work with internal partner teams on the implementation and commercialization
  • Work effectively within the global and regional investment strategy teams to leverage the expertise of the firm and educate the team on the local market landscape including competitor and regulation nuances
  • Connect local partners with the best thinking of the firm and collaborate on the local implementation. This includes Product Distribution, Sales, Marketing, and Portfolio Management, Compliance/legal and tax

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience in investment management or a related field
  • Deep understanding of macroeconomic developments and capital markets, and their impact on investment strategies and portfolio outcomes
  • Extensive experience in media engagement, including speaking at large-scale external events
  • Prior experience as an investor, research professional, or in a client-facing role (e.g., investment consulting or sales) preferred
  • Previous experience with ETFs is required; understanding of factor and systematic investing is an advantage
  • Demonstrated client-centric mindset, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work closely with partner and leadership teams across APAC and Australia
  • Strong technical and analytical capabilities, coupled with a desire to learn and the ability to interpret information from a client perspective
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information and communicate technical concepts effectively to a broad range of audiences
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Cooperative, adaptable, and able to thrive in a high-performing, fast-paced team environment
  • RG146 compliance is required
