About this role

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Production Engineering team within the Aladdin Platform Group. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for technical troubleshooting, a keen interest in learning new technological tools, and a commitment to enhancing procedures and processes. This role requires the ability to identify trends and solve problems, with a proven aptitude for quickly mastering new technologies and proprietary systems. The successful candidate will serve as a technical product expert during customer implementation projects, organize and execute system deployment plans, automate infrastructure management, and develop reports in compliance with applicable project requirements.

Role Responsibility

  • Build, update, and maintain tooling to deploy, upgrade, monitor, and maintain messaging infrastructure hosted in Azure and AWS.

  • Designing, implementing and working with automated solutions for cloud-based infrastructure.

  • Developing or modifying solutions to automate tasks and meet business requirements.

  • Help to suggest and design both short-term and long-term engineering solutions to improve existing operational workflows.

  • Build relationships with stakeholders to understand their roles and requirements and clearly communicate with them on progress, challenges, and questions.

  • Ensure resilience and stability through quality configuration reviews, regression testing, and level two production support for owned tools.

  • Provide on-call support on a rotational basis including weekend coverage.

  • Collaborate with team members in a multi-office, multi-time zone environment.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • A degree specializing in Computer Science, Technology, MIS, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar.

  • 1 - 2 years of industry experience in an engineering role.

  • Exposure to and understanding of cloud ecosystems such as Azure or AWS, including knowledge of their respective APIs for provisioning and monitoring.

  • Experience in a programming language such as Python, Java or PowerShell and their respective testing modules.

  • Understanding of Agile work environments, including knowledge of Azure DevOps, GIT and CI/CD.

  • Experience troubleshooting clients' technical issues, and experience working with engineering teams, sales, professional services, and customers.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work with teams across geography.

  • Create and deliver best practices recommendations, documentation for internal wiki pages, and presentations.

Good to have:

  • Experience with messaging technologies & platforms like Apache Kafka, Azure's Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hub, IBM MQ or Google Cloud's Platform Pub/Sub.

  • Experience with Linux server environments.

  • Experience with configuration management or Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible or Cutover.

  • Experience with Kubernetes environments.

  • Previous experience working in the Financial Services or Technology industry.
