Job description
About this role
Within the Aladdin Product Group – Private Markets, we are hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to work on a critical application of the Aladdin Software suite: Asset Monitoring.
The position is based in Paris and operates as part of a global engineering organization distributed across several countries worldwide.
Asset Monitoring is BlackRock's strategic platform for private markets data collection, validation, and KPI tracking. It replaces legacy tools with a unified, audit-ready solution built on modern architecture patterns. The platform handles the end-to-end lifecycle of private market asset class monitoring — from data request creation and multi-entity submission workflows, through datapoint definition and calculated KPIs, to downstream reporting and analytics across Private Credit, Leveraged Finance, Direct Equity, and Fund-of-Funds.
The role is a hands-on senior individual contributor to the Asset Monitoring platform and features. It requires deep understanding of the technical aspects of a web-based software deployed in the cloud, strong software architecture knowledge, and advanced notions of Product Delivery Life Cycle. AI is at the heart of this role — both as an embedded capability within the product (intelligent document extraction, copilot-assisted workflows, natural language template generation) and as a core methodology in how we design, build, and ship software (AI-augmented development, AI-driven code generation, and AI-assisted quality assurance).
About You
You are an experienced software engineer who is comfortable working on large, long-lived systems where correctness, traceability, and operational stability matter as much as delivery speed. You enjoy understanding how data flows through systems, how workflows interact across services, and how design decisions affect downstream consumers. You are able to work autonomously in complex codebases, while collaborating closely with peers across engineering, product, and QA.
You embrace AI as a force multiplier — both in the product you build and in how you build it. You are not afraid to get into substantial codebases, leveraging AI-powered tools and copilots to understand, enhance, fix, and develop new product features at pace. You actively seek ways to integrate AI capabilities into product workflows and development processes, viewing AI not as an afterthought but as a first-class engineering discipline.
As a senior engineer, you contribute through hands-on development, sound technical judgement, and constructive collaboration, rather than through formal authority. You take ownership of the quality of your work and understand the impact it has on business-critical workflows used by investment analysts and data stewards managing billions in private market assets.
Technologies You Will Work With (Hands-On)
Backend
- Java 21 (LTS), Spring Boot 3.x, Spring Modulith (modular monolith architecture)
- gRPC / Protobuf — strongly-typed API contracts
- SQL Server 2022, JPA / Hibernate 6, Liquibase (schema migrations)
- Hibernate Envers (audit trail, compliance-grade revision tracking)
Frontend
- TypeScript 5 / React 18 — micro-frontend architecture with single-spa + SystemJS
- RTK Query (Redux Toolkit) for server-state management
- AG Grid Enterprise for high-performance data grids
- Enterprise Design System — internal component library aligned with BlackRock UX standards
AI & Intelligent Workflows
- Python 3.13 / FastAPI — standalone AI microservice
- LLM integration (GPT-4) — copilot chat, document extraction, template generation
- LangChain + Azure OpenAI — provider abstraction layer with protocol-based swapping
- AI-augmented development — AI-powered IDEs, code generation, test automation, and workflow orchestration as standard practice
Infrastructure & DevOps
- Azure (ACP/CNP), Kubernetes (AKS), containerised environments
- Azure DevOps Pipelines — CI/CD with SonarQube quality gates
- Helm Charts for deployment configuration
- OpenTelemetry for distributed observability
- OAuth 2.0 / OIDC authentication and role-based authorization
Ways of Working
- Agile / Scrum
- AI-assisted Product Delivery Life Cycle (PDLC)
- Multi-repository workspace with coordinated releases
What You Will Be Doing
- Designing and implementing features within Asset Monitoring, focusing on enhancing the platform's data collection, datapoint management, and submission workflows
- Building AI-powered product capabilities — contributing to intelligent document extraction, copilot-assisted data workflows, and natural language template generation that are core differentiators of the platform
- Leveraging AI in your development workflow — using AI-powered IDEs, copilots, and code generation tools as standard practice to maximize productivity, accelerate code comprehension, and deliver quality features on time
- Working across the full software lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident investigation
- Contributing to the evolution of core platform architecture — modular monolith patterns, micro-frontend orchestration, gRPC API design, and cross-service event-driven workflows
- Writing clear, maintainable code and contributing to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines with quality gates
- Diagnosing issues in existing systems, including integrations with internal platform APIs and downstream reporting and analytics systems, and improving them incrementally and safely
- Participating actively in code reviews and technical discussions, championing best practices in both traditional engineering and AI-augmented development
- Collaborating closely with engineers, architects, product partners, and QA across locations
What You Bring
- Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
- Extensive professional experience building and supporting production software systems (typically 10+ years)
- Strong ability to independently navigate and understand complex, existing codebases — including with the aid of AI tools
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in data-centric and workflow-driven systems
- Experience working on systems where data quality, auditability, and operational reliability are critical
- Genuine interest in AI — both as a product capability and as a development methodology; comfort with or eagerness to adopt AI-augmented engineering practices
- Experience with or strong interest in Java/Spring and TypeScript/React full-stack development
- Professional fluency in English, written and spoken
