We are seeking a collaborative individual to help drive data engineering projects in support of our Investment and Portfolio Solutions Group. We are a community of experienced Developers, Data Engineers and Product Managers who have a passion for working on investment and portfolio solutions for our clients. Our team sits within the Global Products and Solutions Group
Our global team is based in San Francisco, London & Hungary, and we will growing our global footprint with a new engineering team in Mexico City.
About Investment and Portfolio Solutions
The Investment and Portfolio Solutions (IPS) team for Americas develops investment research, portfolio construction, and market insights for clients. Our mission is to tie investment insights and portfolio analysis to commercial solutions across iShares (active and index) ETFs, active and Alts platform for both institutional and wealth clients. The platform team within Americas IPS builds, scales, and supports solutions for IPS team strategists and consultants to create market insights, portfolios, client analyses, and peer studies to help clients obtain more optimal portfolio outcomes.
You Should Be:
- Someone who is passionate about solving complex business problems through data
- Capable of the design, implementation, and optimization of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data storage solutions.
- Able to work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Data Science, Product, Analytics, and Citizen Developer teams) to ensure the data infrastructure meets business needs.
- Passionate about establishing and maintaining best practices for data engineering, including data quality, security, and scalability.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years Data Engineering experience preferably in the financial sector
- Understanding of Portfolio Management Fundamentals: including drivers of return and risk.
- Proven experience working in an agile development team
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to understand legacy systems, identify key areas for improvement, gain support and deliver improvements to the system.
- Proficiency in SQL, with a demonstrated ability in query optimization.
- Strong curiosity of financial markets
We Value if You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Bash
- Experience with relational and cloud databases (MS-SQL, Sybase, Postgres, and Snowflake), and understanding of storage technologies
- Strong experience with ETL tools like DBT, Pentaho, Informatica or similar technologies.
- Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and/or integrating LLMs into data workflows.
- Experience with DevOps and tools like Azure DevOps
- Familiarity with BlackRock Aladdin toolset
