About the Team:

This role belongs to the Technology and Development Operations (TDO) team, under the GAAPS COO function. It involves creating, building, and providing technical solutions to address workflow challenges in the organization. A deep understanding of GAAPS functions is necessary to grasp the challenges these functions encounter.

The Global Accounting and Product Services group (GAAPS) forms a key part of the Business Operations Group at BlackRock. GAAPS handles Institutional and Commingled fund accounting, Fund Board management, Portfolio & Regulatory Compliance, Transfer Agent duties, and operational infrastructure supervision for BlackRock's commingled funds (registered and unregistered). Additionally, the teams provide support for Latin America Business Operations, strategic fund conversions, vendor management, and product lifecycle activities.

Key responsibilities of the role include the following:

• Design, develop, and deliver technical solutions, including AI-based models, that will help the organization scale.
• Build, test, and deploy web applications. Work on both front-end (JavaScript/TypeScript with React or Angular) and back-end (Server, SQL, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Work with partners to identify areas where technology can be brought to bear to improve business processes.
• Make autonomous decisions on which solutions best fit the business problem presented.
• Test and validate AI models, so they remain accurate and aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
• Drive engagement alongside partners to make certain that accurate business requirements are established.
• Build relationships with other internal technology teams to ensure familiarity with all potential AI-based solutions while also holding them accountable for capturing and measuring business benefits.

Skills/Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in a Data Scientist, Business Analyst or Developer role, exposure in developing and implementing AI-based solutions preferred.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or related fields.
• Proficient in speaking and writing in English and Spanish languages.
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, Typescript, Python) as well as strong SQL and database knowledge.
• Experience or familiarity with React or Angular frameworks is required.
• Proficient in Machine Learning models, with expertise in Natural Language Processing techniques including sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, and topic modeling.
• Experience with LLMs, including prompt engineering and fine-tuning.
• Experience with cloud-based machine learning platforms such as Azure Machine Learning a plus.
• Experience or background in the financial industry is considered a plus.
• Experience using Agile methodologies – previous experience working from a backlog, sprints, retrospectives etc.
• Interest in the investment management industry and investment products.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools, e.g., Splunk, Tableau, Power BI.

• The capability to lead all aspects of projects from inception to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within time estimates.
• Identification of risk or gaps in a process and implementing plans to resolve using technical solutions.
• A deep understanding of how the organization conducts its business activities, goals, and objectives.
• Stay informed about the newest advancements in LLMs and machine learning, and identify chances to integrate them into the organization’s business processes.
• Extensive work experience on leading projects from beginning to end and coordinating with high performance teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the whole process of project development. Project management skills are desirable.
