Job description
About this role
About the Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG):
Join the Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG), a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team of in-house, forward-deployed engineers and data scientists at the forefront of applied analytics at BlackRock.
As part of the Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE) division, PAG develops and deploys advanced analytical solutions that integrate Aladdin’s technology platform, financial models, and data to solve complex, real-world investment challenges. These solutions are used by portfolio managers and risk professionals across BlackRock to support investment decisions, contributing to outcomes such as improved portfolio positioning and winning client mandates. The team works across the full breadth of asset classes—including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and private markets—reflecting the diversity and scale of investment strategies we support.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a high-performing individual at Analyst or Associate level to join the Private Markets Analytics pillar within PAG in London. The role involves partnering with BlackRock’s Private Financing Solutions Business to deliver solutions across the investment lifecycle, including fundraising, portfolio construction, deal due diligence and portfolio monitoring. The focus is on translating complex analytical capabilities into intuitive solutions across private markets, with a particular emphasis on private credit. Examples include cash flow forecasting, liquidity modelling, portfolio risk analysis and credit risk analysis.
The successful candidate will wear multiple hats, acting as hands-on analytics developer, business-oriented project manager and subject matter expert in private markets analytics. On the technical side, the candidate needs to demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning our proprietary technology ecosystem, and for working with various programming languages and technology stacks. Fluency across AI technologies, Python, and database languages, along with experience building end-to-end analytical applications is equally important as the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and a solid understanding of financial markets and instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with investment teams, identifying high-impact opportunities and driving execution from ideation through deployment
- Build a strong understanding of private markets investment processes and operate as a credible partner to investment teams, product strategists and risk managers
- Translate complex analytics into intuitive, fit-for-purpose solutions that integrate directly into investment workflows and enhance decision-making
- Prototype, test, iterate, and deploy analytical and AI-driven applications using firm infrastructure and modern technology stacks
- Apply strong project management discipline across initiatives, including prioritization, stakeholder coordination, and timely delivery
- Partner closely with engineering teams to productionize solutions and ensure scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability
- Communicate insights, methodologies, and outputs clearly through presentations, discussions, and written materials
- Develop a deep understanding of the firm’s technology ecosystem, including its analytical capabilities and financial models, to identify opportunities and gaps
Key Qualifications / Experience:
- Associate candidates should have 3+ years of experience in a highly analytical role, ideally within financial services
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and investment stakeholders
- Strong open-ended problem-solving skills and experience building impactful analytical applications
- Proficiency in Python and SQL at a minimum, with experience developing scalable, production-grade solutions
- Prior experience in private markets is a plus
- Familiarity with AI/ML/LLM techniques, agentic systems and AI-enhanced coding is a plus
- Experience with cloud and UNIX/Linux environments, Git, and modern development workflows (e.g., Azure DevOps) is a plus
