Job description

About this role

Role Summary

The Lead – Agentic Engineering is responsible for elevating site reliability, operations, and performance tuning through agent‑assisted and policy‑driven automation. This role designs and scales intelligent operational workflows that reduce toil, improve resilience, and proactively optimise system performance—while maintaining enterprise‑grade safety, governance, and control. The role acts as a horizontal enabler, partnering with SRE, platform, and engineering teams rather than owning day‑to‑day operations.

Mission: Design and enable safe, governed agentic AI systems that autonomously observe, reason, and act across production platforms to enhance reliability, speed recovery, and continuously optimise performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and operationalise agent‑based workflows for incident triage, remediation, alert management, and operational decision‑making.

  • Embed agentic capabilities into SRE practices (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, production readiness).

  • Lead proactive performance engineering, using intelligent agents to detect and resolve latency, throughput, cost, and capacity issues.

  • Establish human‑in‑the‑loop vs autonomous execution models with clear guardrails and rollback.

  • Define reusable patterns for observability, automation, and agent‑ready control surfaces.

  • Partner with security, risk, and compliance to ensure safe, auditable automation.

  • Own the Agentic Engineering roadmap for reliability, operations, and performance.

Success Measures

  • Reduced MTTR, incident volume, and operational toil

  • Applying agentic AI to automate operational workflows, incident response, and recovery

  • Sustained performance and cost improvements driven by agentic decision‑making

  • Adoption of agentic patterns across platforms

  • Zero critical incidents from unsafe automation

Required Experience/ qualification

  • Good understanding of SRE, Production Operations, Platform Engineering, or Performance Engineering

  • Experience designing or integrating AI‑enabled or rule‑driven automation

  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives without formal authority

  • Post Graduation with a PHD in computer science.

  • End-to-End MLOps, LLMs & RAG, Vector Databases, Distributed Systems Design, Computer Vision.
