What is Aladdin Engineering?

Our development team sits inside Aladdin Engineering. We collaboratively build the next generation technology that changes the way information, people, and technology intersect for global investment firms. We build and package tools that manage trillions in assets and support millions of financial instruments. We perform risk calculations and process millions of transactions for thousands of users every day worldwide.

Which team will you be in?

You will be working as a key member of our core Private Markets technology team. Your team is part of the wider team responsible for engineering our cloud-first Private Markets platform using a microservice architecture. This platform supports hundreds of client businesses, managing and analysing their portfolios. The team’s focus is on building scalable, best of breed experiences, including incorporating AI into client facing applications. The team is very quickly moving to AI-enabled development, and you will be at the heart of that transformation.

Within this ecosystem, you will contribute to eFront Provider, a collaborative platform that connects asset servicers and clients through shared workflows and a single source of truth for data and documents—bringing greater transparency, control, and efficiency to private markets operations,

What you’ll do

• Design and build scalable microservices using Java (Spring Boot)

• Collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams to deliver impactful solutions

• Apply AI-driven tools and approaches to enhance development, automation, and product capabilities

• Contribute to cloud-first architecture using modern technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Solve complex problems and continuously improve system performance and reliability

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years of experience with Java/Spring Boot and microservices architecture

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Experience designing and building scalable microservices using API-first principles (REST/gRPC)

• Experience with Java 17+ is preferred

• Demonstrated experience with modern engineering tools (Git, Maven, unit and integration testing, mocking frameworks)

• Solid experience with object‑oriented design and applying standard design patterns 

• Interest or experience in AI/ML or AI-assisted development

• Experience with message brokers such as Kafka is a plus. 

• Experience in React or similar, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus.

• A proactive, learning-oriented attitude and enthusiasm for innovation

• A collaborative mindset, with a drive to build high‑quality software efficiently

• A friendly, positive, and can‑do attitude. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
