Finance & Strategy (F&S) is BlackRock’s global finance partner, delivering timely, accurate and insight‑driven financial analysis to support effective decision‑making across the firm. The team provides strategic thought leadership and financial discipline to inform resource allocation and support sustainable business growth.
Teams you may be considered for:
Strategic Finance (NY, LON & HK)
- Corporate Strategy & Development focuses on the firm’s most consequential strategic questions—partnering with senior leadership to define long-term priorities, evaluate major growth opportunities, and lead corporate development activity, including acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic transactions.
- Financial Planning & Analysis provides the financial architecture that underpins these decisions: leading the firm’s budgeting and forecasting processes, developing and analyzing key performance metrics, and assessing the cost and revenue dynamics that drive long-term value creation.
Finance Information & Analytics (EDI)
- FIA produces, governs and delivers the core metrics that define BlackRock’s strategy, client reach, product breadth and financial performance. The team drives efficient, scalable and high‑quality data production; delivers actionable insights through advanced analytics, modeling and visualization; and partners closely with technology teams to accelerate data and process transformation.
- FIA also works directly with business partners to provide expertise on the foundational data, metrics, and reporting frameworks used to manage the firm and communicate performance to executives, clients, investors, regulators, and external stakeholders.
Controllers and Finance Controls (NY & EDI)
- Controllers and Finance Controls teams safeguard the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of BlackRock’s financial reporting.
- By combining deep technical expertise with strong problem‑solving capabilities, the team strengthens financial controls, enhances processes and ensures high‑quality reporting across the firm, enabling informed decision‑making, regulatory confidence and sustainable growth.
Global Strategic Sourcing (NY & EDI)
- GSS is BlackRock’s global procurement and vendor strategy function, acting as a trusted advisor to business leaders to drive supplier selection, contract negotiation, and relationship management that unlock value, manage risk, and support the firm’s growth.
- The team sits at the center of high‑impact, enterprise‑wide decisions, shaping supplier ecosystems, influencing markets and building long‑term commercial advantage.
- This role offers hands‑on exposure to commercial strategy, data‑driven decision‑making, and cross‑functional leadership. You’ll balance rigorous analysis with strong communication, moving seamlessly between complex vendor contracts and spend analytics to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities. Success requires intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, professional polish, and a growth mindset; familiarity with data science, programming, or AI‑enabled sourcing tools is a plus as GSS continues to embed advanced analytics into its strategy.
What will you do as an Analyst?
All- Partner collaboratively with colleagues across F&S and the broader organization to drive alignment and execution
- Contribute to cross‑functional and ad hoc initiatives aligned with firm‑wide priorities and long‑term strategy
- Enhance and automate research and project workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy and scalability
- Conduct industry and competitive research to evaluate market trends, client dynamics and emerging business models across asset management and adjacent sectors
- Support the execution of key strategic initiatives and projects that advance the firm’s long-term strategy
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform management decisions, partnering with senior stakeholders to provide context and tell the story behind the numbers
- Evaluate business opportunities globally, including acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures
- Work across teams to provide periodic updates on business / regional performance and strategy (e.g., budgeting, forecasting, performance tracking, variance analysis)
- Build and maintain financial models to support business cases, scenario analysis and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reporting, translating complex data into clear insights
- Analyze datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform management decisions, partnering with stakeholders to provide context and tell the story behind the numbers
- Improve and automate reporting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy and scalability
- Maintain strong financial control across regulated and non‑regulated legal entities, including SOX‑compliant controls
- Support statutory, regulatory and management reporting, including presentations to entity boards as required
- Partner with prudential and regulatory specialists to anticipate, interpret and prepare for upcoming regulatory changes
- Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reporting (earnings support, financial packs and country reporting) with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and governance
- Support budgeting, forecasting and operational planning through variance analysis, performance tracking, and business and product‑specific reporting
- Analyze complex, large‑scale datasets to identify trends, risks and opportunities, translating results into clear narratives that inform senior decision‑making
- Build, maintain and enhance financial models to support business cases, scenario analysis, strategic initiatives and NNBF reporting
- Drive analytics, visualization and reporting enhancements to improve insight quality, standardization, scalability, and presentation
- Identify, design and implement process improvements across reporting and analytics, including automation, documentation and policy adherence
- Ensure robust financial controls and governance across all reporting processes, supported by well‑defined metrics and control framework
- Work across multiple categories (Technology, Marketing, HR, Design & Construction, Investment Advisory Services), gaining hands-on experience in the full sourcing lifecycle: market research, competitive bidding, contract negotiation, and supplier management
- Analyze supplier markets, crunch numbers, and build models to drive smarter sourcing decisions
- Review and redline contracts with Legal and Risk teams
- Collaborate with global stakeholders to manage vendor relationships and support negotiations
- Build PowerPoint decks and present insights that influence real business outcomes
- Use CoPilot, Power BI and other tools and dashboards to inform your negotiation strategies and uncover savings opportunities
- Develop a working knowledge of commercial law and contract structures
- Learn to review, redline and negotiate supplier agreements that align with business objectives and mitigate risk
