About this role

Business Unit Overview:

The Institutional Client Business (ICB) develops and maintains relationships with institutional investors including public and private pension plans, insurances and official institutions. ICB’s product proposition comprises a broad range of both actively managed and index investments (traditional and alternative investment products).

The Swiss Institutional Client Business is responsible for expanding the business in Switzerland. It works in close partnership with the Portfolio Management as well as other partners like product specialists, Legal and Compliance teams, Reporting and Operational teams to adapt processes to meet customer-specific and legal requirements.

Job Purpose/Background:

In this position you will be responsible to proactively expand the sales coverage of BlackRock in the French speaking region of Switzerland (Romandie). Specifically, you will take the lead for broadening existing relationships and the acquisition of new clients by ensuring a consistent delivery of high quality and seamless service offering. You will work in close co-operation with BlackRock’s Index, Active and Alternative specialist sales force.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Acquisition of Institutional clients in the French speaking part of Switzerland and drive locally business development initiatives such as leading roadshows and events in partnership with Marketing.
  • Client service with BlackRock’s traditional active and indexed investment products, long-only funds and multi-asset class solutions and bespoke solutions
  • Provide actively non-traditional investment products (alternative investment vehicles), i.e. private equity, infrastructure, private credit, real estate, hedge funds
  • Foster cross-selling of all BlackRock products, i.e .iShares ETFs, Cash, Transition Management and BlackRock Solutions (e.g.Aladdin)
  • Cultivate constructive and intensive dialogue and cooperation with ICB team members globally, BlackRock’s product specialists and portfolio management teams
  • Ensure periodic review of product and service offering, e.g. suggesting new products or client solutions
  • Ensuring familiarity with industry and market developments
  • Maintenance of client information and activities on BlackRock’s database (CRM tool)

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, a Masters is a plus.
  • CFA and/or CAIA designation would be of advantage but not preconditioned
  • 5 + years of experience in an equivalent role in asset management
  • In-depth knowledge about financial products – preferably with validated experience in selling investment products to sophisticated investors and handling client relationships
  • Strong existing client network within the region is a plus
  • A profound understanding of capital markets, the Swiss Pension market and competitive landscape
  • The individual must be an upbeat self-starter with professional pride and a dedication to perfection and improvement; she or he is a standout colleague with a “can-do” attitude and a pragmatic flexibility; further, the successful candidate will be organized and entrepreneurial
  • Extensive experience in MS Office suite, Bloomberg is a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and confident, friendly and respectful individual who is comfortable in collaborating closely with clients and colleagues at all levels Strong client service skills, high responsiveness.
  • Results driven and self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English; German is considered a plus
  • Highly motivated, demonstrates genuine interests in financial / client services, an aptitude for problem solving and shows willingness to focus and contribute
