Overview
Japan is one of BlackRock’s most strategic global Wealth markets, with a sophisticated retail investor base, an advanced distribution ecosystem, and growing demand for diversified solutions. The Japan Wealth team partners with leading securities firms, banks, trust banks, insurers, and platforms to deliver BlackRock’s full suite of active strategies, ETFs, multi-asset solutions, and alternatives.
Role Purpose
BlackRock Japan seeks a Vice President to deepen strategic partnerships with major Wealth distributors, drive sustainable asset growth, and deliver BlackRock’s Japan Wealth strategy. The role includes using data analyticsand AI-driven insights to enhance client engagement and commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key distributors (securities firms, banks, trust banks, insurers, platforms).
Manage a defined book of business with accountability for sustainable asset growth and profitability.
Partner with product, investment, and global SMEs to position active, ETF, multi-asset, and alternatives solutions for Japanese clients.
Identify market trends, regulatory developments, and client needs; translate insights into actionable commercial opportunities using analytics and AI tools where appropriate.
Collaborate with marketing and communications to deliver high-impact client engagement, education, and thought leadership.
Work with Product Strategy, Portfolio Specialists, Risk & Analytics, and Operations to deliver coordinated solutions.
Maintain disciplined CRM usage, leveraging AI-enabled tools for pipeline management and forecasting.
Ensure activities meet BlackRock policies and Japanese regulatory requirements.
Experience / Qualifications
8+ years of experience in asset management, Wealth distribution, or related financial services.
Strong understanding of Japan’s Wealth distribution landscape and client decision-making.
Proven track record in relationship management, fundraising, and commercial delivery.
Broad investment knowledge across active strategies, ETFs, multi-asset, and alternatives.
Ability to articulate investment concepts and portfolio construction to sophisticated clients.
Strong commercial, analytical, and data-driven judgment; familiarity with AI‑enabled tools is a plus.
Excellent communication skills in Japanese; business-level English required.
Collaborative and effective in a global matrix environment.
High professional integrity and client-centric mindset.
Relevant regulatory licensing required.
