Job description

About this role

INTRODUCTION TO SECURITIES LENDING & FINANCING

The Global Securities Lending & Financing (SLF) business is an integral part of BlackRock’s Global Markets and Index Investments group (BGM). BGM brings together BlackRock’s Index Equity, Index Fixed Income, Global Trading, Securities Lending, Financing, Cash Management and ETF Markets teams, delivering investment, trading, financing and risk management solutions for clients globally.

Global Securities Lending & Financing helps clients achieve their investment objectives by seeking to deliver consistent, long-term investment performance and differentiated financing solutions. Managing more than $500 billion in securities loans, the business combines deep market expertise, a global operating model and world-class technology to deliver outcomes for clients.

This Tokyo-based role offers a unique opportunity to work across two important and growing BlackRock businesses: Securities Lending & Financing and Cash Management. The role will be primarily focused on SLF, supporting the continued expansion of our business and client franchise across Japan and the broader APAC region, while also helping build BlackRock’s Cash Management business in Japan. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to established global businesses while playing an important role in shaping their next phase of regional growth.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Vice President within the Securities Lending & Financing Client team, you will serve as a key regional representative of BlackRock’s SLF business, with approximately 80% of the role focused on Securities Lending & Financing and 20% supporting Cash Management in Japan.

The SLF Client team sits at the intersection of our clients, investment and trading teams, and the broader BlackRock organization. Our role is not traditional sales; we serve as product and market experts, representing the SLF business to clients and helping them understand securities lending and financing markets, BlackRock’s investment approach and the value our platform can deliver. The team also brings client perspectives back into the business, helping shape product development, strategy and the future direction of our platform.

You will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence as the regional representative of a global SLF Client team, while partnering closely with colleagues across APAC and globally. You will develop deep relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and help drive the continued growth of our SLF franchise across the region.

The role will also provide coverage and business development support for BlackRock’s growing Cash Management business in Japan. This is an opportunity to help build a developing business from the ground up, partnering with Cash Management colleagues to develop client relationships, identify new opportunities and expand BlackRock’s presence in the Japanese cash market.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Client Strategy & Product Expertise: Represent SLF as a trusted product and market expert.
  • Client Engagement & Business Development: Deepen relationships and identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Regional Growth: Expand SLF across APAC and Csh Management in Japan.
  • Strategic Partnership: Bring client perspectives into business and product strategy.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Translate market and client data into actionable insights.
  • Communication & Market Education: Deliver clear, compelling client materials and market perspectives.

YOU BRING…

  • Relevant Experience: At least six years of relevant financial markets experience.
  • Japanese & English Fluency: Native-level proficiency in both Japanese and English required.
  • Client Presence: Credibility and confidence engaging with senior institutional clients.
  • Product Expertise: Ability to simplify complex financial products and market concepts into clear and compelling messages.
  • Commercial Mindset: Identify opportunities and convert client needs into business growth.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with SQL, Power BI and AI-enabled tools strongly preferred.
  • Independence & Global Collaboration: Operate independently while contributing effectively across a global team.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Motivated to build and grow businesses in evolving markets.
  • Strong Academic Background: University degree and demonstrated interest in financial markets.

Our benefits

To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of benefits including a strong retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive healthcare, support for working parents and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.

Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week.
