About this role

BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and innovative alpha insights. Our team of 350+ multi-asset investment professionals construct active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels, both in liquid and private markets. Currently, MASS runs over $900B in assets and has a strong presence in San Francisco, New York, London and throughout Asia Pacific.

MASS Japan Product Strategist serves as not only the specialists for the individual multi-asset strategies, but also as general ambassadors for the overall multi-asset platform and solution. The role requires an individual who has both a commercial orientation, as well as the ability to be highly credible as an investment professional. The ideal candidate will be excellent insightful communicator to clients, have a strong sense of the sales process, and familiarity/interest with wide range of multi-asset portfolios or cross asset markets and products.

Responsibilities:

Investment Strategies:

  • Prepare and maintain portfolio review decks, ensuring these meet compliance practices

  • Maintain product pitch-books and other standard client collateral such as factsheets, updating central content libraries where necessary

  • Assist with ad hoc requests (e.g. performance analytics / attribution, bespoke reporting)

  • Update/draft RFPs and RFIs with the Client Business

  • Help improve existing processes with new insights/automation and developing best practices across the global Product Strategy platform

Business Development and Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external clients; the ideal candidate will be capable of serving as the face of multi-asset strategies for key relationships

  • Contribute to internal clients helping them to understand the value-proposition around model portfolios

  • Responsibility and oversight of the sales budgets for Net New Business and Net New Base Fee for the MASS platform in Japan, assuming responsibility for pricing strategies

  • Lead internal discussion with multiple collaborators, especially for new fund launch.

  • Drive development of new portfolio solutions from idea inception to onboarding to ongoing support

  • Develop and promote local, improved strategic portfolio solutions for local Japan investors

  • Develop a deep understanding of the full-range of investment offerings across BLK platform.

  • Provide professional engagement with external clients over outstanding products and investment insight behind the strategies

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2+ years of asset management industry or in other financial services

  • Highly advanced in Japanese communication and business level in English

  • CFA, FRM holder or a have a passion to pursue new qualification

  • Knowledge, Curiosity and Desire to learn Financial market and the Investment

  • Strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency around deadlines and act constructively

  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of connecting with multiple audiences and adapting style of communication to suit with local and global audience

  • Capacity to work in a challenging environment, often to time specific deadlines with relative autonomy.

  • Technical and coding skills such as Python, are highly valued. Familiarity with market data tools like Bloomberg and proficiency in MS Office applications.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and self-starting personality.

  • Passions about performance, taking opportunities to learn and develop skills.

  • Business proficiency in Japanese and English
