Business Unit Overview:

The Wealth team is responsible for understanding market trends and client needs across Asia-Pacific’s diverse Wealth markets and translating these into commercial opportunities for our business. The team works with regional distributors and banks, as well as global private banks and insurers to offer the full range of BlackRock active funds, ETFs and alternatives products.

We partner with clients to build bespoke solutions that meet their specific needs, while offering model portfolios and discretionary investment offerings backed by our market-leading in-house technology and risk analytics. The team sits across Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China Offshore, Australia and Japan, and works closely with colleagues around the globe to deliver the best of BlackRock to APAC Wealth investors.

Role Description:

ETF Sales in Japan Wealth Retirement Solutions team is responsible for iShares business development and client relationship management for iShares Japan with online brokers, robot advisor companies, traditional retail brokers and private wealth managers (the clients). 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the APAC Wealth to raise the profile and usage of iShares products within the Japanese retail business segment including the clients.

  • Plan and propose businesses utilizing iShares ETFs to the clients and work with them to realize the businesses.

  • Work within the iShares and wider Blackrock teams, particularly the BlackRock Global Product Solutions team, to increase uses of iShares ETFs in distributors and to import global businesses with ETFs to the Japanese retail market.

  • Provide and deliver presentations for retail related workshops, seminars and individual client meetings as appropriate to represent iShares retail and build a broader understanding and usage of iShares.

  • Deliver on specific net new business and asset under management targets.

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • Retail distribution or private wealth sales experience gained from working in a high quality sell or buy-side institution or wealth management firm, or planning role for retail segment. Individuals should ideally have experience in taking care of clients. 

  • Minimum 3-5 years of sales or planning experience. Solid client relationships skills preferably with key distributors, wealth managers and other key players in the Japan retail space.

  • Native Japanese speaker and proficient in English.

  • Extensive knowledge of the structures of clients within Japan, recognizing key decision makers and internal relationships within the divisional structures of these institutions. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the processes and platforms in the business model, especially in digital business.

  • Ability to plan and complete new business through careful research and analysis, understanding of the regulatory requirement in Japan and sense of the medium and long-term opportunities for iShares.

  • Investment product knowledge to provide credible explanations to clients.  Experience with index or index linked fund products and/or structured/wrap products will be a distinct advantage.  Ideally be familiar with ETFs, their mechanics and application and be able to work closely with all members of the Wealth team.

  • Outstanding relationship management skills and experience, along with a high standard of public speaking and presentation experience.
