About this role
Job Purpose/Background:
The Business Manager for the Japan Active Investmentsis responsible for providing support to the Group across a range of strategic and tactical business requirements, as well as assistance in the day-to-day business management across all range of asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset).
Position Overview:
We are seeking an individual with strong intuition for business, experience in the investment industry, creative approach and proventrack record of successful execution and achieving results. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day oversight of non-investment operations, design and delivery on critical initiatives, and ongoing delivery of a robust and scalable operating platform for Japan Investments. Key responsibilities for this role encompassregulatory and policy oversight, identifying and implementing business process efficiencies, progressing the talent agenda, and management reporting for senior leadership.
This position is a multi-faced role which requires interaction with many key partners, including Portfolio Managers, Product Strategy, Legal & Compliance, HR, Finance and Operations. The successful candidate will have strong relationship management and technical skills, a demonstrated record of results delivery, and intellectual curiosity.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Management:ensure all legal and compliance concerns are addressed and implemented across the teams. Remain abreast of new regulation, continually seeking opportunities to ensure the robustness of our operating environment. Own admin tasks of local Investment Committee.
Project Management:Undertake and own a variety of projects across the Investments business. Support the Head of JapanActive Investments and APAC Active Investment COO across relevant local and global initiatives.
Technology:collaborate with internal business partners to identify and facilitate technology enhancements which address the evolving needs of the global business
Talent & Culture:assist the Business Management Team in finding creative ways to develop talent, increase communication and promote a strong culture across the Investments platform
Execution:the most critical component of the role: provide outstanding and enduring day to day ownership of all tasks above, striving to contribute and drive the business forward at every opportunity as an independent self-starter
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience with knowledge of financial services, operations and /or business management
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with keen attention to detail
Strong organizational, planning and time management skills including ability to function effectively within a fast-paced environment and multitask
Demonstrated experience working both independently and within a highly collaborative team environment
Strong process awareness and ability to recognize and address operational risk issues. Experience in business process analysis, design and implementation
Creative problem solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to deliver presentations, coordinate across the firm, and work with team members in all offices across the world
Basic knowledge of the capital markets, asset classes, financial instruments (equities, fixed income and derivatives) beneficial, but not required
A real team player who can cope with a truly fast pace with tight deadlines and multiple demands
Highly innovative with a commercial outlook – always looking for ways to improve and enhance delivery, exuding an entrepreneurial “can-do” attitude
Interest in financial markets
Fluent in Japanese language
