Job description

About this role

This role sits within Preqin, a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a critical role in how we are transforming private markets data and technology for clients globally, complementing BlackRock’s Aladdin platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio.

You will be joining the world’s leading data and insights provider for the alternatives industry. We empower the global investment community with comprehensive, trusted data and analytics so they can make better decisions with speed, confidence, and precision. As part of BlackRock, Preqin is scaling its impact by embedding private markets data, benchmarks, and indices directly into investment workflows across Aladdin, eFront, and client platforms.

Job Overview

This is a leadership role within Preqin Data, responsible for owning and scaling Preqin’s Benchmarks & Indices datasets across private markets.

The Director, Benchmarks & Indices Data will have endtoend accountability for the quality, coverage, methodology support, and operational excellence of Preqin’s benchmark and index data—spanning fundlevel benchmarks, assetlevel indices, private credit indices (including BDCs), and nextgeneration benchmark products developed in partnership with Aladdin and eFront.

This role sits at the intersection of data, product, analytics, and platform integration, and will work closely with Preqin Product, Aladdin Data, eFront Insight, Index Services, and clientfacing teams to ensure Preqin benchmarks are institutiongrade, scalable, and deeply embedded in BlackRock’s ecosystem.

A core responsibility of this role is to build, lead, and develop a highperforming global team with deep domain expertise, strong operational rigor, and a clientcentric mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end‑to‑end quality, coverage, and integrity of Preqin’s benchmarks and indices datasets.

  • Partner with Product and Data teams to operationalize benchmark and index methodologies at scale, with strong governance and documentation.

  • Ensure datasets are institution‑grade, supporting analytics, reporting, and index construction use cases.

  • Lead integration of benchmark and index data into Aladdin, eFront, and enterprise data platforms.

  • Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing global team with strong domain expertise and accountability.

  • Act as a senior point of contact for internal stakeholders, including executive leadership and client‑facing teams.

  • In addition, the role involves innovating and implementing processes to improve overall data lifecycle. A core responsibility is the management and development of a high-performing team that collaborates with business units and understands client requirements to achieve outstanding results.

You are a good fit if

  • 12–15+ years of experience in financial data, benchmarks, indices, private markets, or related analytical data businesses.

  • Proven experience building and scaling complex datasets in an institutional environment.

  • Strong people leadership track record, including managing and developing global teams.

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution in a fast‑growing, integrated platform environment.

  • Experience working cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams.

  • Excellent communication skills and comfort engaging with senior stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.

  • Familiarity with BI and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Metabase) is beneficial.
