About this role

The Preqin platform serves as a key external data and intelligence resource supporting BlackRock’s private markets business. As a leading provider of alternative assets data, Preqin delivers comprehensive coverage across hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and infrastructure, enabling BlackRock teams to access independent insights on fund performance, fundraising activity, investor allocations, and competitive positioning. This data supports a wide range of functions across the firm, including investment research, product development, and client engagement. As an Associate within the Preqin team, you will work as part of a market-facing group of data and relationship specialists with a strong understanding of alternative assets, fund manager dynamics, and private markets trends. The team is composed of individuals with diverse backgrounds across asset management, research, sales, and financial services, all focused on sourcing high-quality proprietary data to enhance Preqin’s platform. You will serve as a key point of contact for fund managers in Southeast Asia, building and maintaining strong industry relationships to gather insights on investment activities, fundraising, and performance. In this role, you will support the conversion of these relationships into valuable, verifiable data, working closely with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely market intelligence. Your efforts will contribute to strengthening Preqin’s data coverage and delivering high-quality insights to clients globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support leadership and senior stakeholders in expanding and strengthening relationships with fund managers across the Southeast Asia and South Asia market.

  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with Southeast Asia and South Asia based fund managers through regular in-person and virtual engagement.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned institutions, ensuring consistent communication and relationship management.

  • Collaborating with in-region client solutions and business teams in joint meetings to provide market updates.

  • Source and onboard proprietary data (including performance, fundraising, and strategy data) through direct outreach and research, ensuring capture of information not available via public sources.

  • Ensure data quality by proactively monitoring and maintaining the depth, accuracy, and timeliness of datasets.

  • Partner with global and regional teams to implement global campaigns such as but not limit to identifying coverage gaps, developing effective data acquisition strategies and improving client experience.

  • Be the subject matter expert and point of contact for the Southeast Asia alternatives industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, data science, or a related field

  • 3–5 years of experience in business development, account management, or relationship-driven roles

  • Knowledge of the Southeast Asia private markets / alternatives industry

  • Ability to operate in a market-facing role with regular in-person engagement

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong team orientation with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills especially in a cross-border and small team-working environment

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Additional technical skills (Python, SQL, VBA) are a plus
