About this role

The Regional Security Manager (RSM) is responsible for leading and executing the corporate security strategy across a defined geographic region. This role ensures the protection of employees, assets, operations, and brand reputation through a proactive, risk-based security program aligned with enterprise standards. The RSM serves as a strategic partner to regional business leaders, corporate functions, and external stakeholders while overseeing physical security, crisis management, investigations, and regulatory compliance.

Physical Security Operations Management

  • Ensure compliance with BlackRock global security standards.
  • Maintain detailed site security profiles and address concerns with Site Facilities Managers.
  • Develop SOPs for Security Command Centers, manage escalations, and respond to emergencies.
  • Supervise First Responders for medical/security incidents.
  • Manage vendor relations, HR/Legal investigations, incident management, and emergency response.
  • Support Travel Safety Program with assessments and briefings.
  • Assist Global Events Management team with event coordination.
  • Promote security awareness and collaboration within BlackRock.
  • Develop regional metrics and dashboards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, threat analyses, and security reviews to identify vulnerabilities and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage contract guard force performance, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance on internal investigations, workplace violence incidents, and employee safety matters.
  • Lead regional incident response efforts and support crisis management, business continuity, and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Represent BlackRock in regional security networks and liaise with local law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide training and awareness programs on security best practices to regional staff and leadership.
  • Manage regional security budgets, vendor contracts, and performance metrics to ensure operational efficiency and financial stewardship.
  • Support executive protection operations and secure travel coordination for senior leadership as needed.

Technical Security and Capital Projects Management

  • Collaborate with Global Head of Security Technology on projects, maintenance, and audits.
  • Support infrastructure enhancements and innovative technology deployment.
  • Address technical/physical or vendor management tasks as directed.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or military service, with at least three years in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of AMRS West geo-political landscape and experience in combined Technical/Physical Security environments.
  • Proficient in project management, Business Continuity Management, Health & Safety, and life safety processes.
  • Strong knowledge of physical security technologies, guard force operations, investigative procedures, and threat assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and crisis management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage performance metrics and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Capable of multitasking and scheduling in collaborative environments under pressure.
  • Effective at developing relationships at all levels, managing senior stakeholder concerns, and knowing when to escalate issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; ASIS CPP Accreditation or similar an advantage.
  • Must reside in San Francisco area; no relocation offered.
  • Willing to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
For San Francisco, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$115,000.00 - USD$162,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
