YOUR TEAM

The Workplace Operations team is responsible for overseeing critical vendor-delivered services that support BlackRock’s global workplace experience and operational effectiveness. This team serves as an independent financial oversight function, partnering closely with Finance, Vendor Management, Legal, and business stakeholders to drive budget discipline, commercial accountability, and effective governance across vendor relationships. Through rigorous analysis, oversight, and challenge, the team helps ensure that vendor investments deliver value, align with contractual commitments, and support the evolving needs of the business.

YOUR ROLE AND IMPACT

As Vice President, Financial Oversight Lead, you will serve as the independent financial authority for Workplace Operations vendor contracts. You will be accountable for budget integrity, financial governance, audit oversight, and commercial compliance across a portfolio of outsourced service providers. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and the confidence to challenge assumptions using data, contractual requirements, and commercial reasoning. Your work will provide senior leadership with objective insights, risk assessments, and recommendations that help optimize financial performance and strengthen vendor accountability.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and embrace the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies while challenging outcomes. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Own financial oversight of Workplace Operations vendor contracts, including annual planning, forecasting, variance analysis, monthly spend reviews, and ongoing budget governance across regions and service lines.

  • Serve as the financial control authority for vendor-related spend decisions by challenging assumptions, assessing financial impacts, governing budget changes, and coordinating approval processes.

  • Lead independent audits of vendor financial submissions, invoices, savings claims, and activity data; identify cost recovery opportunities and establish repeatable audit methodologies and evidence standards.

  • Partner with Legal, Vendor Management, Finance, and Workplace Operations leadership to escalate findings, drive remediation, and support effective contract governance.

  • Build independent financial models and perform trend, variance, and root-cause analyses to challenge vendor assumptions and evaluate operational and financial performance.

  • Develop forward-looking risk indicators and translate complex data into clear, decision-ready insights for executive leadership.

  • Act as the primary financial oversight authority for vendor relationships, ensuring commercial compliance, supporting governance forums, and providing an independent view of vendor financial health and risk to senior leadership.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Strong financial, accounting, or analytical background with experience auditing, assuring, or overseeing outsourced service providers.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently challenge vendor assumptions using data analysis, contract language, and commercial reasoning.

  • Advanced analytical capabilities, including financial modeling, forensic analysis, forecasting, and performance validation.

  • Experience evaluating complex contracts, pricing structures, and managed service operating models.

  • Proven ability to communicate findings, recommendations, and risks to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.

  • Strong attention to detail, investigative mindset, and commitment to financial controls and governance.

  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive remediation efforts in complex vendor environments.
