About this role

As a member of the Markets Coverage team with the US ETF Capital Markets, you will be responsible for supporting secondary market trading and commercialization our ETF products across various market segments. You will work closely with portfolio managers, sales teams, brokers, and market makers to ensure efficient execution, liquidity, and market awareness of our ETF offerings. You will also conduct research and analysis on ETF market trends, flows, pricing, and performance, and communicate insights to internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have Fixed Income experience across multiple asset classes. 

The US ETF Markets Coverage group aims to increase ETF usage by providing implementation guidance, relative value analysis, and analytic solutions to BlackRock clients worldwide. This person will be responsible for helping iShares’ clients with the nuances of ETF markets and trading (primary and secondary markets), covering all asset classes. Moreover, the candidate will be responsible for evaluating trade and holding costs of ETFs versus other investment vehicles, such as swaps, futures, and derivatives. This team member will require extensive financial market knowledge, must have excellent communication skills, and have the ability to engage with a wide range of client types and internal partners, Lastly, this person will be expected to contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and high performing work environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Be an ETF trading subject matter expert and demonstrate in-depth product knowledge to promote ETF usage and differentiate BlackRock ETFs from competitor funds and other investment vehicles.
  • Support client investment process across channels (institutional and retail) through education on ETF liquidity, consultation on ETF trading strategies, and identifying associated trade costs around implementation.
  • Partner closely with sales leaders, traveling to client meetings as necessary, to provide product specialist support with a focus on ETF implementation and capital markets.
  • Provide ETF Model Portfolio rebalance, due diligence, and implementation expertise to strategic internal and external iShares partners.
  • Write ETF focused market insight pieces and trading research for both internal and external audiences.  Collect, analyze and extract meaning from ETF trading data in an effort to produce relevant content and drive inflows.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of propriety iShares ETF technology specific to trading and relative value analysis.
  • Drive advancement and innovation within the Fixed Income ETF ecosystem, inclusive of new products, improvements in market structure, and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Monitor articles, white papers, and blogs that highlight potential issues with ETFs and help to coordinate the proper response, making sure it is consistent with our global message.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BA / BS in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or similar field; CFA a plus
  • 5-10 years of direct experience in ETF capital markets or fixed income as an asset class inclusive of cash bonds, derivatives, volatility and ETFs
  • Able to multi-task and work effectively at various levels of an organization.
  • Experience working on or leading strategic project teams.
  • Writing and editorial skills combined with interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Resourceful, proactive and able to prioritize and navigate in a fast-paced team oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Bloomberg. Python and SQL skill preferred.
  • Series 7 and 63 required.


For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $137,500 - $194,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
