About this role
BlackRock’s US Wealth Advisory business (“USWA”) manages the firm’s relationships with US retail financial services firms and their advisors, who ultimately serve end investors. Representing a full suite of strategies – from iShares ETFs and mutual funds to SMAs, model portfolios, alternatives, portfolio solutions, and sub-advisory programs – USWA’s mandate is to deliver “One BlackRock” to our clients.
The USWA Strategy team is responsible for developing and executing against the strategic direction of USWA and leading the operating cadence of the business. The team is focused on developing and communicating insights about our industry and competitive landscape; assessing our business performance; allocating resources and executing on business plans; and leading a range of initiatives to shape our direction as a business.
Role Description
We are seeking an Associate to join our USWA Strategy Team. This individual will drive a broad range of projects and should feel comfortable working across business lines. The ideal candidate must understand the strategic initiatives, business financials, and competitive landscape across USWA, and drive strategic and operational projects. This individual will report to the Head of Distribution Strategy.
Responsibilities:
Lead strategic projects including building new capabilities in partnership with sales, pillar leads, client officers, ExCo and internal partners to operate the business
Partner closely with Sales Distribution leadership to execute on day-to-day initiatives and long-term projects
Build and deliver internal and external presentations synthesizing industry trends, product development, distribution strategy, and sales results.
Conduct data analysis and ongoing monitoring of industry flows, sales, performance and competitive positioning to inform product focus and distribution
Develop quantitative analyses and qualitative research, synthesizing and presenting findings, to support business cases and drive execution on clear action steps
Plan and prepare members of the USWA Executive Committee for meetings, drafting C-level presentations, talking points, and briefing memos for the firm’s Board of Directors, Leadership Summits and external and internal conferences/meetings
Cultivate external client knowledge through interaction with sales professionals
Provide training and mentorship to analysts on the broader USWA COO team in order to further their career advancement
Requirements:
4+ years of relevant investment industry experience, preferably with emphasis in strategy, technology, client service, finance, relationship management or business management

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize information, summarize issues and think creatively
Strong proficiency and demonstrated experience working in all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Exemplary communication skills (verbal and written)
Superior interpersonal skills; able to communicate and partner at all seniority levels and regions
Excellent stakeholder management skills to drive efficient decision-making
High degree of professional discretion, integrity and discernment
Four-year degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Economics, or related field
Series 7 and 66 preferred
