About this role

TheInnovation, Data & Analytics (IDA) team sits across the Liquidity and Financing functionwithin BlackRock Global Markets and Index Investments (BGM)

At BlackRock, BGM brings together BlackRock’sIndex Investments, Global Trading, ETF Markets, and Liquidity & Financing (Securities Lending, Cash Management, Securities Financing) functions, and is focused on advancing investment processes and platform architecture across these areas, while ensuring we engage with other market participants in a collaborative and strategic way.

Within BGM, the Liquidity & Financing (L&F) pillar combines Securities Lending, Securities Financing, and Cash Management, with a mandate to deliver liquidity, lending, and financing performance for clients and investment teams while ensuring financial resource capacity.

Teamand Responsibilities

The Innovation, Data & Analytics (IDA) team sits across all of L&F. Our mission is to enable the next generation of innovation and data-driven decision making by:

  • Leading the re-architecture and development of our in-business data platform;

  • Driving AI adoption and scaling citizen developer initiatives;

  • Delivering central reporting and business intelligence solutions;

  • Fostering innovation through experimentation with emerging technologies.

We are seeking a dynamic Associatewho seeks complex data-oriented problems to join our team in New York. The primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Innovation & Emerging Technology:Researching, documentingand testingnew and emerging tech with a focus on revenue generation, productivity enhancement, scale enablement and risk mitigation potential;

  • Derived Data Strategy: Developingproprietary business data transformations and logic through deep dive research into trading, market, product and client dynamics;

  • Analytics & Business Intelligence: Collaborating in a multi-disciplinary squad involving program and product managers, data engineers, and trading and client professionals to expand the analytics and business intelligence offering based on impact and demand;

  • Data Platform & Tooling:Contributing to the development of a revamped data platform to power the next generation of data-driven decision making;

  • Central Partnerships & Collaboration:Securing and expanding data, analytics, and research partnerships with key stakeholders across the firm. 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research or similar) 

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in a data strategy, analytics, or innovation-related role within a technology or financial services setting; experience in Securities Lending, Securities Financing, Cash Managementor adjacent markets is preferred

  • Excellent demonstratedquantitative and analytics skills including the ability to identify problems, design and articulate solutions, and implement long-term change

  • Advanced proficiency with SQL and programming languages such as Python and/or R is required

  • Experience with data engineering workflows (ETL/ELT) and modern business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, APIs, and distributed data systems preferred; prior experience with a large-scale data migration project highly advantageous

  • Curiosity and passion for innovation, including AI, automation, and emerging technologies

  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex challenges into practical solutions

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present findings and drive alignment across diverse groups

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
