About this role
BlackRock Global Corporate Communications is looking for a Director, Internal Communications based in New York, to lead and execute communication initiatives that shape the employee experience at the firm. This role will be a key member of a highly collaborative, global team dedicated to solving complex communication and engagement challenges in a fast-paced environment.
About Corporate Communications
An important part of BlackRock’s Corporate Affairs function, the Global Corporate Communications team leads all internal and external communications that advance our purpose of helping more and more people experience financial well-being. The team is responsible for driving compelling communications and stakeholder engagement strategies that enhance our culture, drive growth, strengthen our reputation, and build our brand.
Responsibilities:
- Bring the right mix of strategy, creativity, project oversight and technical skills to design and execute internal communication campaigns and initiatives that engage BlackRock’s nearly 23,000 people around the world in the firm’s growth strategy and One BlackRock culture.
- Expertise and passion for driving change at complex global organizations and helping leadership teams craft communication plans and materials during dynamic and transformative times.
- Curiosity and expertise about existing and cutting-edge digital platforms, tools, and communication and engagement approaches including intranets, signage, multimedia design and content, GenAI, Microsoft platforms, etc. to engage employees in compelling ways.
- Anticipate and connect dots across the organization, including counseling and partnering with a wide range of internal stakeholders (e.g., senior leaders, HR, cross-functional partners, and others) on best-in-class internal communication strategies and methods.
- Willingness to embrace and lean into change, viewing obstacles as opportunities to grow. The ability to think big, to always seek feedback, and to recognize the importance of curiosity and continuous improvement to drive the right outcomes.
- Ability to craft and deliver compelling narratives across a wide variety of channels in a way that resonates emotionally, creates connection, and drives action, while also aligning with the firm’s strategy, principles, and culture.
- Ability to measure effectiveness of communication and employer brand strategies through a variety of mechanisms, continually adjusting those strategies based on data.
- An engaging leader that sets an inspiring vision, establishes clear expectations, and creates a culture where employees feel empowered and motivated – both within the team and beyond it.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in some combination of internal communications, corporate communications, employee engagement and employer branding, particularly in the financial services industry. Ideally some experience in HR, particularly in areas related to culture and employee engagement, or as an HR Business Partner.
- Ability to act as a “strategic tactician” who can balance big picture thinking with strong project management skills and nimble execution.
- Experience engaging with senior executives; navigating complex, global organizations; and fostering collaborative decision-making among senior stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
- Proven ability in working across different regions and times zones, particularly Europe and Asia, to drive global communications strategies and activations.
- Strong working knowledge and/or natural curiosity about both fundamental and innovative communication tools, technology, and practices e.g., design thinking, digital tools, GenAI, social media, etc.
- People management experience, with a proven ability to manage and develop talent.

Our hybrid work model
