About this role

This role sits within Preqin, a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a key role in how we are revolutionizing private markets data and technology for clients globally, complementing our existing Aladdin technology platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio.

As Preqin cements its position as the Private Market benchmark of choice - the Preqin Benchmarks team is looking to hire a commercial lead to join the team in New York.  We are responsible for the construction, maintenance, productization, and adoption of Preqin's private market benchmarks - a high priority area for the firm. We are a cross functional team comprising of subject matter experts (methodology, data, analytics), product managers, designers, engineers, and marketers based in London, New York, Singapore, Boston, and Belgrade.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive adoption of Preqin Benchmarks

    • Own initiative to boost strategic adoption of critical benchmarks, including partnering with clients, building relationships, and understanding client needs

    • Enable sales organization (e.g. support training, join strategic client calls)

    • Support commercial partnerships, including identifying potential partners, representing the Benchmarks team in discussions, and working with relevant internal teams 

    • Provide strategic input to drive product direction and development

  • Develop commercial model

    • Work with sales and strategy colleagues on overarching benchmarks commercial model

    • Support roll-out of commercial model (e.g. collaborate on go-to-market and marketing)

  • Lead 1BLK efforts for Preqin Benchmarks

    • Lead and / or support integration efforts of Preqin benchmarks and indices across the wider BlackRock and Aladdin organization

    • Drive internal engagement across the business, cultivating relationships with all users

    • Act as the primary product expert for internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Professional Services, Client Support) in the Americas

Skills and experience required:

The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical and financial knowledge, be a strong problem solver, and have distinctive personal leadership in the areas of drive, collaboration, communications, and stakeholder management. We are looking for a seasoned professional who will enjoy (and be able to) drive adoption of Preqin Benchmarks, develop the commercial model with other stakeholders, and lead collaboration efforts across the firm.

  • Deep technical and financial knowledge

    • Extensive experience in private markets, benchmarks (public or private), or financial data

    • Comfortable discussing financial performance metrics and methodology in detail (e.g. returns, money multiples)

    • Background in product, strategy, or commercial / sales

  • Strong problem-solving skills

    • Independent problem solver - able to own problems and solutions end-to-end

    • Comfortable with structuring and scoping un-structured problems, taking part in quantitative problem solving, and making data-driven decisions

    • Able to pick up new areas quickly and pivot based on organization requirements (e.g. understanding different asset classes)

  • Distinctive Personal leadership

    • Excellent communication and orchestration skills both written and verbal, to navigate a matrixed organization, tell compelling stories with ease, and inspire a common vision

    • Driven individual - willing to work hard towards high-stake organization goals

    • Team player - ability to work effectively as part of a geographically and functionally diverse team

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$180,000.00 - USD$240,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
