Securities Lending & Cash Management Innovation, Data & Analytics - Analyst (NY)
Innovation, Data & Analytics (IDA) team sits at the intersection of BlackRock’s Securities Lending business and Cash Management Group within BlackRock Global Markets and Index Investments (BGM).
BlackRock Global Markets and Index Investments (BGM) brings together BlackRock’s Index Equity, Index Fixed Income, Global Trading, Securities Lending, Cash Management, ETF Markets, and Financing and Financial Resource Management businesses to deliver investment, trading, financing and risk management excellence for clients every minute of every day.
Within BGM, BlackRock’s Securities Lendingbusiness handles approximately $400 billion in loans and provides superior performance through innovative technology, sophisticated quantitative techniques, and product innovation. BlackRock’s Cash ManagementGroup manages a suite of products that includes Prime and Government Money Market and Ultra-Short Duration Mutual funds and Separate Accounts. BlackRock’s cash management style is designed to meet each client’s objectives of capital preservation, liquidity and yield – in that order.
Team and Responsibilities
Data is at the heart of both Securities Lending and Cash Management, and the mission of the Innovation, Data and Analytics (IDA) team is to enable the next generation of innovation and data-driven investments decision making across Securities Lending & Cash Management by leading the re-architecture and development of our research and data platform, expanding collaboration on key data & analytics adjacencies across the firm, and driving innovation such as AI and citizen development at scale.
We are seeking a dynamic Analystwho seeks complex data-oriented problems to join our team in New York. The primary job responsibilities will include:
- Innovation & Emerging Technology: Researching, documenting and testing new and emerging tech with a focus on revenue generation, productivity enhancement, scale enablement and risk mitigation potential;
- Derived Data Strategy: Developing proprietary business data transformations and logic through deep dive research into trading, market, product and client dynamics;
- Analytics & Business Intelligence: Collaborating in a multi-disciplinary squad involving program and product managers, data engineers, and trading and client professionals to expand the analytics and business intelligence offering based on impact and demand;
- Data Platform & Tooling: Contributing to the development of a revamped data platform to power the next generation of data-driven decision making;
- Central Partnerships & Collaboration: Securing and expanding data, analytics, and research partnerships with key stakeholders across the firm.
Skills & Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research or similar)
- 1-3+ years of relevant experience in a highly analytical role within a technology or financial services setting
- Excellent demonstrated quantitative and analytics skills including the ability to identify problems, design and articulate solutions, and implement long-term change
- Advanced proficiency with SQL and programming languages such as Python and/or R is required
- Experience with data engineering (ETL/ELT) and business intelligence/analytical tools (PowerBI, Tableau) preferred
- Appetite for consistent learning is a must; excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and an ability to identify problems, design solutions, and implement change required.
- Meticulous attention to detail with an analytical approach indicating a clear, logical & structured thought process
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to deliver presentations internally/externally and coordinate across multiple groups around the firm
