Team and Role Overview
BlackRock SMA Solutions empowers clients to customize portfolios for tax efficiency, values alignment, and unique investment exposures across direct indexing, fixed income, active equity, and multi-asset strategies. We serve a diverse client base from wealth advisors and family offices to endowments and foundations. As we continue expanding globally, we're seeking a Vice President of SMA Operations to lead our India-based team. This leader will oversee a cross-functional group focused on seamless client onboarding and operational execution for managed accounts. The role involves close collaboration with global stakeholders and a relentless pursuit of innovation, automation, and a client first approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the India SMA Operations team with a focus on operations support, scalability, and client delivery. Drive scalable growth, identifying process gaps and designing future-ready workflows that balance risk control, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Drive seamless onboarding and service for managed accounts by partnering with global stakeholders across Sales, Portfolio Management, and Relationship teams.
- Ensure daily operational oversight of account reconciliation, proxy voting, corporate actions, and custodial data management.
- Act as the central bridge between India and US teams, establishing clear communication and fostering alignment on business priorities.
- Strengthen external partnerships with custodians, brokers, banks, and vendors, resolve operational issues swiftly and maintain trusted relationships on behalf of the firm.
- Develop and implement operational metrics to evaluate team performance, project future needs, and inform resource planning.
- Represent India Operations at senior leadership forums, contributing market relevant insights, sharing progress against objectives, and championing initiatives that enhance the client and employee experience.
- Model BlackRock’s principles including fiduciary mindset, excellence, innovation, and global collaboration in every decision and interaction.
Qualifications
- 10-12+ years of experience in investment operations, client onboarding, or asset management, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Deep understanding of platforms, custodial services, trade settlement, and reconciliation processes.
- Strong working knowledge of Aladdin reconciliations is required.
- Knowledge of Salesforce, and accounting systems is a plus.
- Track record of operational improvement, including automation, scalability, and risk mitigation.
- Self-motivated, creative thinker with a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for client-centric service, continuous learning, and modeling leadership behaviors.
