YOUR ROLE AND IMPACT
As a Vice President in the Investment Accounting Group, you will support the delivery of accounting and reporting services while responding to the evolving needs and priorities of our clients. You will help oversee the monthly accounting close, lead client and departmental initiatives, strengthen processes and controls, and coordinate capabilities from across BlackRock to deliver business and client objectives. Stay current on the evolving regulatory landscape and new accounting pronouncements, and clearly communicate their implications to support client compliance across multiple bases of accounting, including United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and United States statutory accounting.
Apply knowledge of derivative concepts and derivative accounting to support investment accounting processes, analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and client deliverables.
Support business growth, new-client implementations, and client retention within the insurance sector by partnering with teams across BlackRock and representing accounting on cross-functional projects and working groups.
Lead the continued development of investment reporting production and control processes to improve efficiency, mitigate operational risk, incorporate business and product changes, and maintain procedures that reflect current practices.
Partner with vendors to communicate development priorities, support delivery, and help ensure that accounting and reporting solutions meet business and client requirements.
Serve as a senior point of contact for clients on accounting-related matters, conduct training for the Investment Accounting team, review quarterly National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and other regulatory reconciliations, support audits, and recommend control enhancements based on review findings.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated investment accounting experience within investments or financial markets, typically gained through at least six years of relevant professional experience.
Knowledge of insurance companies or statutory accounting, including the regulatory and accounting requirements under which insurance organizations operate.
Familiarity with product-specific financial reporting requirements and disclosures, including the application of accounting guidance to investment products.
Demonstrated focus on operational improvement, accounting controls, risk mitigation, and the continued enhancement of reporting processes.
Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, auditors, regulators, vendor partners, and internal stakeholders across global teams.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
