About this role
This role will be a key member of the BlackRock Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions – Custom Models Solutions team. The team works alongside Portfolio Managers and focuses on commercializing model portfolios for Financial Advisors and their clients.
The widespread adoption of Model Portfolios is one of the most significant evolutions in the US Wealth Management industry over the last decade! As the industry drives towards greater simplicity, clarity, cost efficiency, and goals-based financial planning, the Custom Models Solution Business (CMS) is uniquely positioned to support advisors and accelerate the adoption of model portfolios. Through CMS, advisors can tap into BlackRock’s industry leading model portfolio investment framework to build a differentiated suite of custom model portfolios tailored to the needs of their business.

As a CMS Team Member, you will be encouraged to:
Build Custom Model Portfolio proposals and client materials
Partner with CMS Client Portfolio Managers to design and build custom model portfolios for specific wealth management clients, marrying client customizations with BlackRock’s investment views, as defined by the Model Portfolio Solutions team.
Build and manage suites of custom portfolios using BlackRock’s model customization applications and tools.
Support the Custom Models sales cycle with pitch decks and marketing materials to close new business.
Work closely with model portfolio managements teams, bringing to bear their systematic investment and market insights.
Support ad-hoc attribution and model due diligence requests from CMS Clients.
Support data quality, infrastructure, and client experience
Manage onboardings for new Custom Models clients, including the organization and maintenance of all custom model inputs and client data
Work directly with the Village of Custom Models stakeholders to triage client inquiries and ensure consistent data inputs across the Aladdin infrastructure
Maintain investment integrity and benchmark fidelity to align PM inputs with CMS client’s bespoke asset allocations
Work with the CMS PM and Client Experience teams to deliver a consistent and seamless client experience
Manage projects to drive growth
Support critical initiatives to scale the CMS platform and its integration across MASS and other parts of the firm, including client-facing market leaders, Models Infrastructure, MASS Core PM, and Aladdin Wealth Tech, among others.
Think creatively about ways to improve the CMS operating model and deliver on automation and scale-oriented projects to support the business’s growth objectives and risk mitigation.
Support all aspects of the day-to-day operating procedures in partnership with Core PM and Models Infrastructure to support business needs.
Qualifications/Skills
BA/BS required. Advanced Degree / CFA / CAIA , or progress towards, is strongly preferred
A minimum of 1 years investment or asset management experience
Client facing experience in building advisor portfolios
Combination of investment, analytical, technical and client skills
Student of the market with fluid understanding of financial markets, portfolio construction and analysis
Entrepreneurial with a sense of ownership and keen sense to build a business
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and process
Collegial attitude and eagerness to partner with numerous teams across MASS and the broader firm
