Team overview and role responsibility
This role sits within BlackRock’s Global Financial Reporting (GFR) function, which is accountable for all aspects of our products’ periodic reporting experience, regulatory reporting and disclosures.
In this role, you will play a key role in leading the timely delivery of periodic annual and half-yearly financial reports and advance a globally aligned vision and operating model. Key responsibilities include:
- Carry out analytical, quantitative and qualitative reviews of financial statements prepared by fund administrators, ensuring BlackRock's disclosure policies and quality standards are maintained;
- Present audit results and findings from reporting cycles and various ad hoc memos to the various audit committees and boards of directors;
- Assess and monitor service quality of third party financial reporting vendors, provide feedback, identify areas for improvement and manage any changes in service requirements;
- Support the continual development of the financial reporting operating model to optimise efficiency, mitigate risk and incorporate business and product changes;
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with multiple internal and external partners including fund administrators, auditors and boards of directors; and
- Analyse and implement updates to accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
To ensure success, you will have the following qualifications and competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance desirable;
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) preferable;
- You possess at least 7 years combined experience in investment management or financials services audit or, alternatively, significant experience within a financial reporting environment at a fund administrator;
- You have knowledge of technical and regulatory issues affecting the fund industry, including prevailing accounting standards (such IFRS Luxembourg, UK and US GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements (UCITS and AIFMD);
- You take ownership for outcomes and is personally accountable for results;
- You analyse relevant information using logic and consider relevant facts to make rational, realistic and sound decisions;
- You produce accurate work and spots mistakes/errors and makes appropriate corrections;
- You have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including ability to clearly articulate results as wells as issues to senior management and board of directors;
- You are ambitious, determined to achieve goals and works hard to meet those goals;
- You work effectively to plan and prioritise responsibilities including ongoing and ad hoc projects simultaneously; and
- You develop practical and pragmatic solutions to problems
