About this role
Job Summary
As a member of theAPAC Investments Advisory Compliance Team- this individual will work closely with their regional and global compliance counterparts to improve and ensure a globally consistent Investment Compliance framework for BlackRock’s global strategy. Providing compliance and regulatory advice and mentorship to a variety of investment teams, both traditional and private markets, across the region will be core to the role.
Individuals with Investment Advisory Compliance experience in either asset management, a buy-side financial services firm or sell-side banking institution will be ideal. We are open to individuals who may not have the vital experience above but have exposure to control functions in financial institutions or has been in a regulatory role.
Candidates should be able to work optimally with a team environment but also be self-directed and able to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
Providing compliance and regulatory advice to BlackRock’s APAC investment teams.
Providing advice and mentorship with respect to:
-compliance with local, regional and global laws, regulations, best prac tices and BlackRock’s policies and procedures; and
-based on a strong understanding of BlackRock’s fiduciary obligations and its commercial and business objectives.
Assisting in maintaining the integrity of BlackRock’s information barriers and conflicts of interest program.
Collaboration with other control functions in the provision of advice and mentorship to investment teams.
Participation in global and/or regional compliance initiatives to ensure global best practices and consistency including in the regional coordination of tasks.
Reviewing marketing and distribution materials in APAC for BlackRock’s investment teams
Supervising local and regional regulatory developments and evaluating their impact on the business
Qualifications:
A minimum of 2-5 years relevant working experience in investment compliance in asset management, a buy-side global financial services firm or sell-side banking institution. Experience to control functions in financial institutions or past regulatory experience is acceptable.
Familiarity with the regulatory landscape for investments across APAC is helpful.
An understanding of asset management compliance programs including monitoring and surveillance (e,g. controls around Insider Trading regulations and handling Conflicts of Interests) is ideal
An understanding of financial crime such as AML and Anti Bribery and Corruption issues in APAC
Proficiency in both written and spoken English. Chinese and Cantonese language skills helpful.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to interact and negotiate with key inyernal and external business stakeholders.
Strong written/verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
University degree in Law/Finance/Accounting/Business/Economics preferred.
