Sustainable & Transition Solutions (STS) is BlackRock's central sustainability function that leads our firmwide sustainability and transition strategy, drives cross-functional change, supports client & external engagements, powers product ideation, and embeds sustainability expertise across the firm. It is a 35+ strong global team of smart, results-oriented people who are addressing some of the world’s most complex financial and sustainability challenges.
Our team is the center of expertise for all things sustainable and transition for BlackRock. We work closely with our partners in the Global Product Solutions (GPS) team, within which STS sits, as well as with the Sustainable Investment Research & Analytics team within the BlackRock Investment Institute, Aladdin Sustainability, Global Client Business, Corporate Affairs, and investors and product strategists across the firm to deliver solutions for our clients.
Reporting to the Hong Kong-based APAC Head of Sustainable & Transition Solutions, this role will have the opportunity to initially support across and eventually specialize in one of the core functions of the APAC team:
Commercial Strategy & Business Management – sets the regional commercial strategy and drives cross-functional commercial, regulatory and reputational initiatives
Platform Specialists (Client & Industry Engagement) - drives the commercialization of our sustainable and transition strategies in partnership with sales teams and product strategists, and partners with Corporate Affairs to engage in the external ecosystem on policies and initiatives that affect sustainable investment strategies, product innovation and regulatory compliance
Product Platform Governance & Strategy - leads on sustainable platform governance for product management and investment processes, driving globally consistent standards, underpinned with research, data & analytics
Key Responsibilities:
Support the development of the client commercialisation strategy in sustainability & transition for APAC, including undertaking market & competitor surveillance, enabling and monitoring client account planning, and collaborating with sales teams to respond to client enquiries. Establish feedback loops to share insights across GPS to inform product strategy & design recommendations.
Support the setting and upholding of sustainable product criteria and governance standards
Contribute to internal capacity-building efforts across sales teams and other key internal partners
Support the production of content for external events and educational/ marketing efforts, e.g. client conferences/ roundtables, newsletters, speaking engagements and media interactions
In partnership with the Global Affairs & Public Policy team, monitor the regulatory environment around sustainable investing in APAC; conduct research & support responses to consultations where applicable
Collaborate with the other APAC and global STS and research pillars on cross-functional and cross-regional projects where appropriate, such as research content, product innovation and policy engagement
Support the APAC STS team on general business management, project management and administrative tasks as necessary
Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
Some relevant experience (e.g. internships) in financial services, strategy and/or sustainability
Knowledge of/ keen interest in sustainable investing and the APAC investment management landscape. Base understanding of sustainable product frameworks and methodologies a plus.
Self-motivated individual, with a strong sense of ownership and the aptitude for thinking strategically and commercially to help proactively drive new business
Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to build relationships with and educate external and internal stakeholders, and the ability to translate complex investment and sustainability topics into easy-to-understand memos, speeches and presentations
Team player; ability to efficiently manage and deliver multi-dimensional projects through collaboration with cross-disciplinary global teams. Strong organisational and coordination skills also critical to this.
Proven technical, analytical, problem-solving and PowerPoint skills highly advantageous
