About this role

Role Aim/Purpose:

To help ensure BlackRock is regarded by regulators and peers as a company with high compliance standards. This includes supporting the implementation, development, growth, and maintenance of an effective global and regional marketing & distribution and cross-border compliance framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a leadership partner to the Marketing & Distribution Compliance team in the APAC region. Support regional strategy and execution. Help build the centralized marketing material review and coordination model for APAC.
  • Play a lead role in scaling and embedding the APAC marketing and distribution compliance framework, including the review and coordination of products/services and non-product-related marketing materials across APAC jurisdictions, and supporting the regional implementation of new marketing and distribution initiatives.
  • Implement and coordinate global marketing and distribution compliance monitoring activities, including workflow management, preparation of compliance observations, remediating tracking, timely escalation of issues, and contribution to the framework improvement.
  • Serve as a regional point of continuity for global marketing material policies and APAC content requirements. Also manage the cross‑border marketing and sales compliance framework. This includes drafting, maintaining, and updating clear, business‑friendly guidance.
  • Provide risk‑based advisory support to business units and internal compliance partners regarding sales and marketing efforts, with a particular focus on alternative investments and cross‑border regulatory considerations.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver training materials and guidance to support consistent understanding of marketing and distribution compliance requirements across the region.
  • Proactively engage with business partners to promote awareness, adoption, and ownership of marketing, sales, and distribution compliance policies, contributing to a strong and sustainable compliance culture across APAC.
  • Contribute to process optimization, technology, and automation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, scalability, and consistency of review workflows and compliance tools.
  • Prepare and analyze management information and reporting relating to marketing material review activity, emerging risks, and key trends.
  • Provide day‑to‑day guidance and coaching to junior team members, supporting capability building and demonstrating readiness for future people‑management responsibilities.

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Asset Management Compliance, with a strong focus on financial promotions, sales, and marketing content
  • Strong understanding of asset management products, distribution models, and business activities, including traditional and alternative investment strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing and advising on sales and marketing materials.
  • Strong legal and regulatory skills, including legal research, interpretation, and drafting of compliance policies, procedures, and business guidance.
  • Experience providing cross‑border sales and marketing compliance advice across multiple jurisdictions; APAC experience preferred.
  • Sound understanding of regulatory risk assessment, including identification of risks, application of mitigating controls, and management of issues where appropriate.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging credibly and effectively with partners at all levels of the organization, including senior business and compliance leaders.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and judgment skills, demonstrating independence in managing competing priorities, and delivering outcomes with limited supervision.
  • High level of attention to detail, balanced with a practical, risk‑based approach.
  • Collaborative great teammate capable of working effectively across regional and global teams in a complex organizational structure.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with a proven ability to manage high‑volume workflows and time‑sensitive deliverables.
  • Proficiency in Red Oak, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other business systems; advanced Excel skills and strong technical proficiency preferred.
  • Self‑motivated and proactive, with the ability to drive functional, regional, and global initiatives and contribute beyond core responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated interest in mentoring and supporting emerging professionals, with potential for future people‑management responsibilities.
