About the team
The Country Marketing team consists of experienced marketers located across EMEA. They are responsible for creating and implementing local, country-specific marketing initiatives that cover various product categories, client segments, and distribution channels.
The Middle East and Africa marketing team's coverage model is designed to serve both the Middle East and African markets, addressing all client segments, including:
- Wealth managers: Retail and private banks, Robo-advisors, investment platforms, wealth management firms, financial advisor networks, and asset managers.
- Institutional entities: Pension funds, Insurance companies, Sovereign Wealth Funds.
The team collaborates with a wide network of stakeholders daily to deliver customer-focused marketing campaigns aimed at increasing the adoption of our technology, index, active, and alternative solutions.
About this role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented marketing associate to support our marketing efforts in Africa. This role will focus on delivering channel marketing initiatives, organizing high-impact events, assisting with strategic partnerships, and ensuring governance and compliance across all marketing activities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in contributing to multi-channel marketing initiatives, excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of the South African market.
A successful candidate will have the opportunity to oversee marketing activities across various channels, including events, websites, email campaigns, paid media, and strategic partner packages. They will also engage with and tailor our marketing efforts to a range of client segments.

They will need to be a strong team player as they will work across multiple projects and stakeholders both internal and external. They will also need to ensure compliance of materials in line with local requirements.
The role sits in Cape Town alongside client and operational teams, reporting into the Head of Middle East and Africa Marketing based in London.
Key responsibilities
Work with the Head of Middle East and Africa Marketing to execute on our objectives and strategy for key businesses in alignment with the ME sales targets.
- Channel Marketing: Deliver on channel marketing initiatives to support sales and distribution partners. Help develop and execute programs to increase client engagement and led generation, using data-driven insights to recommend improvements.
- Events Management: Plan, organize, and execute high-impact events, including conferences, trade shows, and webinars. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure successful execution and measure event success and ROI.
- Content Creation: Develop and manage content pipeline in the form of articles, blogs, and other marketing materials. Oversee briefing, copy editing, and ensure high-quality content delivery.
- Web Experience Improvement: Collaborate with internal teams to build a best-in-class web journey. Focus on enhancing content, tools, and performance to improve user experience
- Build and maintain relationships: Establish and nurture strong relationships with key partners, ensuring mutual goals are met.
- Strategic Partnerships: Assist in developing and maintain strong relationships with key partners. Execute key strategic partnership marketing plans (e.g. across content, event, webinar deliverables) that drive growth and enhance brand visibility of both client and BlackRock brand.
- Governance and Compliance: Ensure all marketing activities comply with local regulations and company policies. Implement governance frameworks to maintain brand integrity.
Experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in Marketing or related role.
- Proven experience in the financial industry,
- Strong event management experience, with both third party and proprietary events.
- Experience collaborating with digital and creative agencies, and marketing channels.
- Experience in working across marketing channels (CRM, Digital, paid media)

- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and a focus on client-oriented delivery.
- Excellent communication and networking skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude towards finding the best possible outcomes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, while also being able to work independently.
- Ability to work independently and effectively to drive forward key initiatives and managing workflow on multiple simultaneous projects.
