About this role

About the Aladdin UX Design Team

The Aladdin UX Design team researches and designs the user experience for the Aladdin investment and risk analytics platform which is used by institutional wealth managers and investment professionals worldwide.

We practice a human-centered design approach—designing software grounded in user need—to enable our users to tap into the power of BlackRock’s Aladdin enterprise platform. We are a team of skilled UX designers, UI designers, and UX researchers, working to reinvent and improve the Aladdin platform through the user’s lens.

We are looking for a UX designer who understands and is inspired by the complexities of designing software for the enterprise.

About You

You understand Product and UX requirements to create compelling UX/UI interactions and address complex workflows. You are a problem solver; you understand user behavior and interactions and you design beautiful interfaces that are highly functional. You are a meticulous creative, and you understand that designing for digital products, software, and applications is different than designing for marketing. You live and breathe systematic design and scalability!

You arehands-on designer, and you are adept increating a multi-product design interactions and designs. You enjoy the challenge of crafting creative, simple, sophisticated visual designs for complex ideas.

You will be working with teams of designers, product managers, and engineersto create design solutionsthat are intuitive, accessible, and delightful. 

As a UX/UI Designer, You Will:

  • Take ownership of design for a subset of Aladdin’s tools used by internal and external users.

  • Help develop and implement UX strategies that align with business goals, ensuring a seamless user experience.

  • Design detailed workflows, and prototypes

  • Ensure design is consistent with our UX/UI guidelines and approved interaction patterns

  • Lead the design of user interfaces using participatory and iterative design techniques, including heuristic evaluations, user interviews, usability testing, and other forms of research and discovery

  • Collaborate with key project team members, including UX designers, researchers, product managers, and technology leads to deliver end-to-end solutions.

  • Create specs and documentation for your designs, working within our design system.

  • Be a positive, friendly representative and evangelist for user-centered design.

Requirements

Experience & Education

  • 5+ years of application design experience in either product or agency environments

  • BFA degree in Visual Communication, Interaction Design, or similar field

Work Samples

  • A portfolio that shows strong examples of solving complex user needs via intuitive interface design, as well as examples of visuals designs and UI solving for complex workflows.

Expert-level Skills in:

  • Developing UI artifacts such as concepts, UI detailed designs, prototypes

  • Figma

  • Detailing the work (i.e specs and annotations)

  • Communication and storytelling through presentation

  • Ability to collaborate with development teams to ensure design implementation meets high quality standards.

  • Partnering with key stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement innovative processes to ensure that UI design efforts are efficient, repeatable at scale and that ultimately ensure production and release of effective and impactful design.

Strong Skills in:

  • Working with cross functional teams that are earlyin their UX evolution to establish and implement UX/UI processes that ensure quality of design at scale.

  • Conducting user interviews to understand user need deeply

  • Conducting user testing to validate designs before and after production

Design Experience with the Following Is a Plus, but Not Required:

  • B2B offerings
