Team Overview
The Due Diligence Operations ‘DDO’ team, sits within the CXO world and is responsible for processes pertaining to verification of client Anti-Money Laundering, Customer Due Diligence, and other critical client documentation (FATCA, CRS, Authorised Signatory Lists, etc) as well as the capturing, reviewing and storage of client documents, ensuring its availability to the partners.
The team forms a critical control function within the Client Experience Operations function which also includes Client Reporting, Client Invoicing Services, Portfolio Data Delivery and Document Governance.
The EMEA DDO team currently supports several BlackRock’s key business channels including EMEA Institutional clients, Retail Intermediaries and Alternative / Private Investment Counterparties globally.
Role Overview
The firm is seeking an individual to be BlackRock’s EMEA Head of Due Diligence Operations (AML/KYC). The individual will be a leader in the Client Experience Operations function and report to the Global Head of Due Diligence Operations based in Wilmington, Delaware. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an extensive knowledge of, and experience in dealing with, KYC/CIP regulations and laws in the EU and, ideally, a familiarity with relevant regulations in key European countries.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with implementing AML/KYC frameworks and procedures. The position would be located in Budapest, Hungary.
The EMEA Head of Due Diligence Operations will be responsible for building on and enhancing, for the firm, an anti-money laundering framework which ensures ongoing compliance with the current and future applicable regimes and that is fit for purpose for a global asset management firm. The individual will be directly responsible for managing a dedicated AML/KYC team.
This role provides an opportunity for the candidate to continue to enhance the firm’s framework in relation to anti-money laundering risk and compliance and to assist the firm in moving towards a more globally consistent framework for the management and maintenance of AML/KYC as well as broader client related documentation whilst enhancing the client experience.
Role Responsibilities

- Provide leadership and management of the DDO team based in Budapest, Hungary, including oversight of team activities, process review and enhancements, training and education, mentoring and performance evaluations.
- Working closely with regional Onboarding-Contracting and Financial Crime team in continuing to enhance a framework in relation to managing the risk of AML/KYC onboarding.
- Develop and maintain strong, productive, and effective relationships with key stakeholders and partners within the business, Client Experience Management, Legal & Compliance, Internal Audit, etc.
- Be client service minded and work with our client businesses to assist with helping clients comply with the firm’s AML/KYC policies.
- Participating in projects with global impact like technology developments.
- Ensuring the execution of DDO strategy in the region, including the delivery of BAU activities, project implementations.
- Leading new initiatives in the KYC space across various business lines.
- Ensuring the operation of adequate internal controls and management reporting.
Experience
- The successful candidate should be genuinely experienced in delivering AML/KYC programs for financial institutions, either through having worked for an asset management firm or a bank in this field or having worked for a large consultancy. A minimum of five years’ experience in this field is preferred.
- A strong understanding of pertinent AML/KYC and CIP regulations and laws is necessary.
- Experience of working with global asset management firms with a working knowledge of investment and servicing functions would be an advantage.
- Experience of leading, operating and improving operational processes preferred.
- Excellent communication, judgement and business partnership skills are expected.
- 3 plus years of management experience is required.
Experience working with regulators would be a plus.
