About this role
Joining BlackRock means becoming a part of a community of smart and curious people who are tackling some of the world’s most complex financial challenges. And our founder-led culture has maintained its entrepreneurial feel — we work hard, we work fast and we work with purpose.
What team will you be on?
The BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) team is at the heart of BlackRock's investment debate and portfolio construction. BII provides a platform for BlackRock’s portfolio managers to debate timely topics affecting markets – and disseminates actionable conclusions through internal summaries, client publications and its digital presence. BII research creates the core portfolio building blocks core to BlackRock’s mission to create a better financial future for people, companies and governments. This nimble, global team has outsized impact on BlackRock’s performance, commercial success and brand.
The publications team helps bring the ideas, debate and research of BII and BlackRock portfolio managers to life through our external publications as well as internal summaries. The publishing does this through sharp writing and crystal-clear charts that help break down complex topics into compelling content for a broader audience.
Why is your role important?

If so, this is the role for you. We are looking for a data visualization lead to join our publishing team in Budapest to produce high-quality charts and interactive graphics across media platforms.
The person is responsible for producing charts and interactive visualizations to enhance the impact of BII’s views – for both internal and external audiences. This includes helping support the interactive charts that are a key part of BII’s digital presence.
Responsibilities:
- Help build and maintain BII’s internal library of charts
- Take the lead in driving new financial charts with clarity and impact
- Collaborate closely with BII’s investment strategy, macro and portfolio construction teams on powerful visuals that bring our story to life
- Lead on publishing efforts to incorporate AI into our workflow
Qualifications:
- Superb Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Strong experience with manipulating data in Datastream, or Bloomberg and Haver
- Basic Python skills and willingness to learn a plus
- Familiarity with data visualization packages such as Flourish, Datawrapper and Tableau also a plus
- A self-starter with loads of creativity, team spirit, versatility and persistence
- Ability to work very quickly, deliver on or before deadline and go the extra mile
- Intense attention to accuracy, detail and consistency
- Intellectual curiosity
- Excellent communication skills
- Work experience of at least two years as a data journalist or in data visualization
