About this role

The eFront FAIR business, a part of Aladdin, is a fast growing part of BlackRock’s Private Markets technology strategy, focused on building a best-in-class Private Markets Data and Analytical platform.  The FAIR business is a Front Office business for Alternative Investment professionals, supporting Limited Partners in understanding, recalculating, and analysing their management fees, expenses, and carried interest provisions across their investment portfolios.

The Private Data Services (PDS) team is the backbone of this business, providing world-class expertise in the collection and validation of investment data for investors in alternative assets.

The Aladdin Business is comprised of 1,200+ professionals responsible for implementing and supporting our Aladdin clients, sales and marketing, and ensuring the Aladdin Community maximizes Aladdin products through engagement and education.

About the role:

We seek an individual with outstanding leadership, people, and team management capabilities. This individual should possess a strong background in operational procedures, understanding of technical private equity accounting concepts, and expertise in optimizing business processes. This person will lead all aspects of the analysis of fee provisions and translating them into economic value for our clients. Moreover, the role will deliver high-quality service to our clients, employing technology and automation to drive efficiency, in addition to standard processes in Operations.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership in Bangalore:

  • Supervise team of 15+ staff in Bangalore, managing people strategy, career growth, recruitment, metrics, and performance reviews.
  • Directly accountable to clients: leading client conversations and orchestrating client experience in partnership with the staff.
  • Work with cross-functional collaborators to improve FAIR operating model across people, process, and technology.
  • Build an inclusive environment centered on trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort.
  • A Leader who grows the next set of Leaders in the business, and ability to become a BlackRock Global Citizen.

Program Management:

  • Proficient in project planning, scheduling, and execution with flexibility to adapt to changing project priorities.
  • Proactive problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Spearheading process improvement framework towards future state.

Drive adoption of Innovative technologies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to drive cross-functional success.

Technical Skills:

  • Review detailed reports on management fees, partnership expenses, and carried interest for a variety of alternative investments, including private equity, real estate, private debt, and real assets.
  • Ensure consistent methodologies around data extraction, fee recalculation, and report creation are applied to all reports.
  • Act as a subject matter authority on all internal methodologies and procedures to guide staff through complex calculations and reporting.
  • Adhere to critical metrics to ensure timely report delivery for all clients.

Experience required

  • 5+ years of management and/or leadership experience.
  • 14+ years of experience in fund accounting, investment management, external audit, or another private equity-adjacent role from a reputed organization.
  • Excellent understanding of financial statements including notes to financial statements, capital account statements, cash flow notices, ILPA templates, and other information regularly published by General Partners.
  • General understanding of limited partnership agreements, private equity fund structures, and associated fees.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment to achieve clear goals within a short timeframe.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills. Experience in mentoring and leading a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to detail key items in reports and communicate with internal collaborators and clients.
  • University degree or equivalent experience in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • CA or equivalent experience, CPA, CAIA, CFA, ACCA, or other accounting/ finance certification(s) required.
  • Excellent communication skills: Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills required, ability to work with complex functionalities.
