About this role
This role sits within Preqin, a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a key role in how we are revolutionizing private markets data and technology for clients globally, complementing our existing Aladdin technology platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Release Engineer to manage the end-to-end software release lifecycle in the Private Markets Data Acquisition team. This role is critical in ensuring smooth, timely, and high-quality software deployments across all environments. The ideal candidate will coordinate cross-functional teams, handle dependencies, maintain a transparent release calendar, and ensure all quality gates and documentation standards are met before production deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
Release Coordination & Planning
- Maintain and supervise the release plan, ensuring all milestones, deadlines, and deliverables are met.
- Track and communicate progress across teams, escalating risks or blockers as needed.
- Lead and document release ceremonies including DRR/IRR, Go/No-Go, and weekly release reviews.
- Coordinate across Engineering, Product, QA, and Client Success teams to manage inter-team dependencies and ensure alignment.
Quality Gate Management
- Enforce quality gates such as code freeze, QA regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Validate operational readiness by reviewing runbooks and coordinating regression testing.
Binary Promotion & Deployment
- Oversee the binary promotion process, ensuring successful code movement from staging to TST to production.
- Collaborate with Engineering and AltOps to align resources and streamline deployment schedules.
Documentation & Communication
- Coordinate with Product and Client Success teams to build and maintain:
- Release Notes: Including new features, bug fixes, and known issues.
- User Guides and Training Materials: Reflecting updates and new functionalities.
- Facilitate a thorough review process for all documentation to ensure accuracy, transparency, and completeness.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in release engineering, DevOps, or software delivery coordination.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and deployment tools.
- Experience with release management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Git, Jenkins).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple releases and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating across teams to manage technical dependencies.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience working in a SaaS or cloud-based environment.
- Understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in Python and experience with .NET or Java technology stacks.
- Knowledge of scripting languages and automation tools is a plus.
